I can imagine a forum where people don't mute each other and just discuss the issues 😄

We used to have that here long before Steve and Ozanne turned up

I mean, we've called each other pricks plenty of times without it developing into a straight back and forth with no news discussion.

I Ignore Baz Fish because his endless trolling winds me up, and I can't resist calling him rude names. I think most of the covid thread had him on Ignore at one point. I'd rather not have anything to do with him if possible.

The Bentos bloke also winds me up as he just comes on here to have a pop at Ozanne and nothing else and some times I like to call him out on it and call him some rude name for a body part.  But, I promise to not call them rude names like Centrist or Tory, not for a few weeks anyway.

All I did this morning was comment on those Starmer pieces in the press, I’m not sure why it bothered him so much.

I don't think we actually have anyone here who votes Tory which is the funny thing 😄

Yeah exactly. Last person who did was TGT, and he at least tried to justify it by arguing they protected the economy (lol look at the well protected economy).

There's a few Snippers around, but they're in denial about how Tory their party is. Even after they came out with suggesting people pay for NHS access....

and yet - I still manage to wind you up 🙂

I don't troll.  Its almost like you don't really have me on ignore 🙂

Its kind of funny anyone offering an alternative view point is troll 😄   I've held a pretty consistent tone / view point ever since I have been commenting on efestivals.  You just have to look in the old discussion area for proof.  Its just a weak attack to call someone a troll.

You absolutely do troll people at times. Not that often, but you definitely do.

Don't really get the tribal thing with politics. As Bill Hicks said if they had a new Jesus every few years would you call yourself a Christian? The Tories have a small libertarian wing and labour have a small socialist wing but around the centre its much of a muchness.

As Farage has just pointed out Labour could now be to the right of the Tories of immigration:

I mean, it's how you define troll I guess. If it is to purposely wind people up then I'm probably guilty of it too.

So, maybe he isn't always trolling, but he still just winds me up, and I wouldn't want anything to do with him in real life either, so I choose to ignore him. Some times I do have a peep, and see that he is still often posting unpleasant shite.

Depends which wing of the labour party you are from. Old Labour definitely see a countries borders similar to a union, a protective ring around pay and working conditions. New labour obviously alot more comfortable with globalisation.

Starmer isn’t saying it in the same way Farage is meaning as he said that immigration was fine for workers we can't source domestically the UK should spend the money to train people in the UK. There was no suggestion that the overall numbers would come down.

ok...so Starmer is old labour?

Probably more to do with Cummings working out those votes were up for grabs and now Starmer needs to get them back.

I think everything seems to be in flux, like we're at the end of something and not sure what we're going to get next. Globalisation as we knew it seems to be over and this could have big implications with our economy and global trade and immigration and stuff, and also after pandemic and this financial crisis we seems to be heading to a more european model of higher taxes and (hopefully) better public services...but we're not there yet, and anything could happen...wasn't long ago we were heading for a US style low tax thing.

Train strikes for christmas.

Just checked, won't mess up my son's travel plans. Last Xmas there was covid to do that. He had to stay in Belfast on his lonesome.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11457769/England-BLACKMAILED-dropping-One-Love-armband-World-Cup-German-FA-reveals.html

England were 'BLACKMAILED' by FIFA into dropping OneLove armband at World Cup and threatened with 'massive sporting sanctions' - which prompted other nations to follow suit - German FA reveals

The federations of England, Wales, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark had said on Monday they had been put under pressure by FIFA, who had threatened to issue yellow cards to any player wearing the multi-coloured armband.

I find it very weak that such big nations couldn't of turned around as a group and told FIFA where to go if you really believe in what they are carping on about.  I think the truth is - its virtue signalling and FIFA called their bluff.

Absolutely.

If they believed in the message, they'd say "this is bigger than sport" and stood up to it. We could then see FIFA's response, and if they don't do it a 2nd time to avoid a booking, that's more forgivable.

They aren't allies, they're cowards. They like the plaudits of being seen as inclusive, but they have no guts.

Train strikes are for life, not just for Christmas.
