doesn't gov just pay any shortfall via subsidies?

I'm not sure to be honest - I know the government subsidised massively over Covid, but I thought that was more to keep the system ticking over rather than "company lost money, government reimburses." I'm not hugely clued up on how it works.

I guess what I was getting at is that, although prices are shit, and going up, even if the cap was in line with inflation they'll still be posting a loss of profits (whoever that burden falls on - should be the companies in my opinion).

Maybe I should educate myself on the subject a bit more!

Privatise profits, socialise losses, so don’t think the burden will fall exclusively on the companies’ shoulders. We taxpayers are shouldering a £4bn liability to bail out Bulb for some reason!

the reason is so that the regulation failures don't get high-profile-revealed.

Can we please limit the twitter drops.  Don't want to see constant polling again.   Been nice here recently

I don't mind the twitter reports so much. The Polls can do one though, not sure the point of them this far out.

It's like the weather thread in the Glastonbury chat, only useful near the time. That thread is at least funny at times
