Not every film has to be Oscar worthy high drama.

Sometimes I just want a couple of hours of super people punching each other in the face.

Me & Mrs Q watched an Everyman cinema night recommendation on Saturday, Polish film called Cold War from 2018. Black & white, very European, absolutely zero fat, critically acclaimed.

We were both left very confused by the end. There were no explosions, no one getting punched, no finale team ups...very odd 😄

Was there at least an end credits scene which left the door open to a wider universe??

The comic readers are missing a trick not making more stuff up to be honest, I've never touched one and believe everything they say.

"Yeah it could all go the way of hungry hungry wandapillar where she simply eats Agatha and turns into a butterfly made of 2002 world cup replica footballs"

"Wow the comics are Cray hope we get to see that"

That reminds me of the time I tried to explain the ending of Shazam to someone at work and how an evil worm is actually a great villain and not stupid. The more details I gave about Mister Mind the more he thought I was taking the piss. Although in fairness he shouldn't take what I say seriously as I once told him in the comics Captain Marvel was a femi-Nazi who tried to kill The Avengers because they were all men but then decided to join and lecture them about being woke.

Are you sure you made that up? Youtube keeps recommending 3-hour long video's on Brie Larson that cover what I'm pretty sure is exactly that subject.

They actually came up to me asking about if Captain Marvel was a feminist character because of Brie Larson so I decided to have fun with it.

Why does everyone hate Brie anyway, is it just the comment about her  not wanting to read reviews from white male critics about that black princess Disney film?

Yeah I'm keen to watch MODOK, doesn't look like it takes itself particularly seriously.

WFH on Friday and Mrs J and the kids are out all morning so will be able to watch the Wandavision finale early and undisturbed...

Usually lands about 8pm down here, put mini moth to bed and settle down after dinner (that’s what these heathens call tea) with Mrs Moth and a nice glass of red...

WFH but have to wait until the other half gets in from work about 5:30pm then it goes straight on!

YouTube is my "go to" to pass time but on Fridays I need to avoid it like the plague cause of the nature of the things I watch all my recommended videos are movie/tv/geekery based and just the thumbnails alone for some videos can contain major spoilers!

Friday night will be very witchy as Wandavision finale and also The Witches (2020) is going on Sky Cinema/NowTv so will give that a watch too.

Getting strong Robot Chicken vibes off MODOK, which is promising.

Hopefully it will be where I can finally get my Squirrel Girl fix. She famously took him down in the comics. As a more light hearted series she would fit in well.

Robot Chicken Star Wars remains one of my favourite things ever.

The MODOK thing does look like it's "borrowing heavily" from RC, but could be funny. We'll see.

Really looking forward to Friday now!

Actually been such a fan of the weekly release schedule, which is hilarious as I was complaining about it before WandaVision started. It's been fantastic as a hype building tool and will work really well for these Marvel shows moving forwards.

Hmm didn’t quite stick the landing I don’t think. Obviously a lot of it is due to fans going rabid over cameos and fan service which the show was never planning to deliver and which I got caught up in (as always), but it just seemed like a pretty generic final battle/payoff and non-ending, and all the reveals left me a bit cold (Quicksilver was just... nothing then?).

Also no real link to Multiverse of Madness other than Wanda’s gonna be in it in full Scarlet Witch form and seemingly searching for her imaginary children/probably opening the multiverse herself through this.

Yeah I agree. I'm not exactly sure what I was hoping for, but the ending felt very generic as you say. Tad disappointed with the finale.

Overall I really enjoyed the series though!

Edit: There's also a post, post credits scene.

I cried like a little bitch. I avoided theories at all costs so really enjoyed it.

I think the villain was a bit tropey with the whole "I'll tell you something about your powers you'll almost immediately use to defeat me" thing. But it's a fucking Marvel show so what can you expect? 🤷‍♀️

Can we put Kathryn Hahn in all the things now? She's perfection.

Me in the last five minutes, a meme summary:

Thought it was great, less generic battley than I was expecting really. I've been following all the insane mad theories which has been really fun but after last week realised we weren't getting them so just happy to round it out with a solid episode.

Were people not expecting the fighting? The visions ending up talking it out with a triggers broom discussion and Wanda using Agatha's spell she picked up last week against her were good ends to that really and its all ended proper rather than a cliff hanger for something we're not gonna see for ages (not to mention like 4 films away). Post credit scene was cool, post post credit scene was really cool. Really glad we'll see more Agatha, hope they play here theme tune every time she pops up.

If the kids come back I hope they age up coz the one with the magic powers does my head in.

Great first go at a series for marvel anyway and looking forward to watching it through again. Not expecting to be anything more than pretty entertained by winter falcon bit really high hopes for Loki now.

I wonder how much the marvel people kept up with the rumours and noted how ready people are for shit to get fucking weird.

Still pretty hurt by fake Pietro but whatever, I'm not falling for any more of their multiverse bullshit until it's explicitly obvious that's what's happening.

Loved Vision vs Vision being settled in a really original way, definitely didn't see that coming!

Fake Pietro was bizarre in the end. That's the one big misstep for this series IMO, it just created too many questions.

As a whole series it's been bloody fantastic, especially the different sitcoms being pastiche, but I think the previous episode was better than this final.

I thought it was phenomenal and heartbreaking at times.  Wanda has no idea White Vision has all his memories so that leaves that open for another time and yeah, clearly going into the Multiverse to get her Children back.

Rambo off to see Fury I’m presuming feeds into Captain Marvel 2.

Get the points about Pietro but was clearly just a point of messing with her head but a very meh ending for him.

Fully agree on Katherine Hahn, she was brilliant and can’t wait for her to come back and cause mayhem.

sorta hoping Vision awoke Nu-Visions old Ultron programming but I dunno they've already addressed there being ultron programming in him and its part of him I just think that villain has more to give. It'd be the last thing to fix about that film for me not having him die at the end. We'll see. Would explain why he just fucked off though, be fun theorising which film he'll turn up in as they come out.

Finale was excellent. Top notch stuff and such a great tv show. Not bothered at all that none of the big theories came true - would have been great to see a big cameo or something but not having one didn’t hurt the show at all. I actually liked the Captain Marvel 2 setup because it was totally out of left field, and the tease that Wiccan and Speed are out there somewhere (still thinking it ties in to Mephisto and DS2) was nice.

I get people might be disappointed if they were really pinning their hopes on something, and tbf the show itself and the cast did add massive fuel to the fire, but keeping it tight with the story of Wanda and Vision worked really well and was pretty emotional at the end. Glad Agatha isn’t relegated to a typical MCU one shot villain as well and will clearly play a mentor type role at some point, and could tie in to Mephisto, Reed and Franklin Richards down the line.

Still think there’s more to Evan Peters than just a wink and a nod though. They’re playing a very long game here with Phase 4 and I’m sure we’ll look back on this series as sowing seeds for stuff further down the line. We’ve had more or less the acknowledgment of mutants now, and I think the aerospace engineer gimmick will pay off down the line (thinking now it’s Blue Marvel and we’ll get that in CM2, but tbh that would be a bit of a  disappointing tease since most of us are jonesing for some F4!)
