Primavera Sound 2022

Will write further thoughts in the week once I'm a bit more awake but there was simply too many people here this year and some of the stages, and the way the site is layed out, is now very much not suitable: I gave up on watching literally every act I had planned to see on Cupro or Binance because of crowd and bottleneck issues. By overselling tickets they've made this all much more obvious.

Thursday was an unforgivable shitshow, Fri/Sat better. I had fun overall and Barcelona is a great city to spend time in, but I think for myself and a lot of people who've been before there's going to be a lot of hard consideration before grabbing tickets to next year.

I might sound socialist here, but they should really give priority to the poor guys flying home today and not to those who still have 3 days of city shows and full festival weekend... but I got in, so no hard feelings

The whole thing about paying more to get access seems grim to me. I think they should have sold these shows as a mainly VIP perk. Was misleading in the advertising.

It was my first time and I had high hopes based on what I'd been told. The music was exceptional and can't fault that side. The organisation (especially Thursday), atmosphere and vibe were lacking for me. We've had a nice time but I can't see me coming again.

I've already paid a shitload for this festival so nah. If we don't get in to Magnetic Fields I'll see them elsewhere.

understood. it’s the only MF show this week though and is a fuck load cheaper than seeing them elsewhere. so they got me!

The other way of looking at is is these shows were for ordinary local people who couldn’t afford tickets.

Plus the festival still had made almost all (85%) of tickets for Ciutat for free to festival holders and moreover people who bought a ticket in the first 2 years (!) they were on sale didn’t even know they were getting Ciutat thrown in on the deal as this was only announced last year.

I think I'd prefer it if the city gigs were sold entirely as a separate thing. Then we might have bought tickets for a couple of things and knew we would get in. Having to queue hours for things just makes it feel like a theme park or something. Can't be arsed.

My general thought om the venue shows is to invest in the evening and be there ready in line when the doors open for the venue you want to go to. If not the expectation should be that you will not get in. That being said I am not sure if the Apolo will be full for the kemet gig?

I hear you. I do think on the other hand that last night wasn't representative of the popularity of these things, not helped by Simz cancelling and today being a public holiday in Spain.

I reckon it won't be as bad tonight, tomorrow or Wednesday now most of W1 has gone home and now these are working days for Spanish people.

This has also been the format of the Sunday gigs for the last decade incidentally. Might have to wait a bit but not hours.

What's everyone feeling regarding Sons Of Kemet tonight? Not sure when to queue

Also not sure about this - thinking of going 30 / 60 mins before Steam Down (who we would also like to see). I have a W1 + W2 ticket but my gf doesn't so will join the regular queue. We probably would've chosen KeiyaA over anyone today but cba trying to get into a venue that small.

Cheers! Will wait and see. I'm a bit burned by some horrific Auditori queues at the festival so it's putting me off but going to get there nice and early and see how we do.
