charlierc
I kinda feel bad for relegating Burnley, given I'm aware for Newcastle's drops in 2009 and 2016 how miserable relegation is, and that I'm aware their Glazer-style leveraged buyout could make next season very difficult. But it is what it is alas. 11th from being 20th in December and being the last team to win in the Premier League this season is a pretty phenomenal turnaround. Having seen the highlights, meanwhile, I wonder if there's any scenario where Norwich would've beaten Spurs to deny them a Champions League spot given how badly their defence collapsed. I feel bad for Burnley, but I'm seriously happy for Leeds. I wanted Everton to go down because that club is just a clusterfuck of bad decisions over seasons, and they'd inevitably come back within 3 years anyway. Even with Bielsa gone though, Leeds are entertaining, and I want to see entertaining wild teams in the Prem. Burnley have been another of these 11th-18th teams that don't do much, and will probably be forgotten in 5 years. From reading, Howe made good noises about not over-recruiting and trying to add to a good squad, which is a huge distance from what things looked and felt like in November. I'd much prefer to see 3-5 players signed and a 7th-10th finish than trying to overhaul everything. You don't want players who've done well the last 6 months to feel disposable. WS_Jack_III
@kaosmark2 @charlierc It's our highest points total in 8 years! We didn't win a match for 14, I cannot describe what an incredible turn around it has been from Eddie, the team and the ownership.

pink_triangle
I went to watch Wrexham at Wembley for the third time in 10 years today and saw my third successive loss. I would happily never visit that stadium again!

The Nal
Great to see AC Milan back at the top. Unbelievable recruitment job from Maldini and his son is now the 3rd Maldini now to win Serie A. And look who won another league. The player Utd let go for free 4 years ago.

On a similar note how Tyrone Mings gets in the England team ahead of Tomori is peak Premier league superiority complex. He's absolutely flourished under Maldini. Watching players in other leagues requires extra effort, and the media rarely push for it.

Luckily if we make the play offs it's at West Ham so I can see of the curse extends to all London stadiums. I just find it such a sterile stadium lacking in character and atmosphere, but maybe my experience is just tainted by failure!

It's not great either. Particularly as there does seem to be an almost unspoken element to that where eventually, if you settle for that survival specialist role, at one point it doesn't work. Wigan, Swansea and Sunderland, for instance, pulled off a few great escapes but never stabilised upon that before falling through the trapdoor. Burnley feel like the one of the 3 going down least likely to challenge imo, however. There is something odd about the takeover deal that has an effective relegation penalty to pay back tens of millions relating to the takeover, which might well hoover up the parachute payments before they can help out.
