It doesn’t fill me with hope for the album.
TownesMR
I've been a Kanye fan and have given this guy so many chances in the past few years. I was actually laughing hysterically last night cause I couldn't believe how bad the album stream was. I simply don't understand why a AAA album is mixed so poorly and done with seemingly no care. FloorFiller
I know he probably made the deals with the ad companies and venues etc a while ago but can’t the guy just finish the album, sit on it and then do all of that shit instead of giving constant false release dates?! Obviously not heard it yet so just going by what others have said, but how many half arsed sounding albums are we gonna get because he’s rushing to get them finished due to a release date he clearly wasn’t ready for (and still doesn’t meet)? Being able to upload an album straight to the public instead of getting CDs printed etc has really been the bane of Kanye’s career due to his mental health clearly getting in the way and never being able to call a project finished. It's almost like he's releasing a game - get it out into the wild to meet demand then try to patch it afterwards based on feedback. These listening sessions are almost his beta testing phase. Haan
I have a theory that he wanted to release it today because the YZY GAP coat (looks awful) comes out today too. Probably wanted to coincide both releases and forced it. CaledonianGonzo
That's the worst coat I've ever seen.
Badlands
Comes a distant second to the black Naffco 54 effort from the 90’s in the ‘best jacket that looks like a bin liner’ category
CaledonianGonzo
Did that jacket have inflated lips around the zip to conjure up a 'midnight black fanny' aesthetic?

discgoesmic
I have no confidence it’ll release August 6th. He’ll scrap the album and we’ll be back at stage 1, give it another year and maybe we’ll hear another random project.

topmarksbri
Feel like this is a bit of a make or break album, Ye/JIK were really subpar releases IMO

There’s been a noticeable drop off of hype for this one tbf and I think the fact that you’re no longer guaranteed a masterpiece is just something that people are gonna have to deal with, but I’m not expecting it to be a total flop/as thrown together as Jesus is King, and hopefully there’ll be some good shit throughout this album and whatever he decides to do next. I don’t think music is his #1 priority or passion at all anymore, but hope as long as he’s mentally fit to do so that he keeps it coming. He's probably my favourite artist ever but yeah I get what you mean about the guaranteed masterpiece thing, if you're only ever comparing his new stuff to some of the greatest albums of all time then of course they'll seem not as great. kalifire
Tomorrow, then. Shouldn't be doing this ahead of Donda, but I've been re-listening to MBDTF today. Goddamn, that's a good album. Edited August 4, 2021 by kalifire

Hugh Jass
This thread has inspired to have a day of Kanye albums while I'm working. Got Late Registration on at the moment, had forgotten how hard Diamonds From Sierra Leone slaps.

It really is. I take it you've also seen/own Late Orchestration that he did at Abbey Road? One of the best live concerts i've ever seen.
