Green Man 2022

the wonderwhy

Has Mac D been pulled from European festivals?  I thought he was on some of the line ups for European festivals in August? Can’t see him now.

Other possibilities: Beach House, Sleaford Mods, IDLES, First Aid Kit, Super Furry Animals, Jon Hopkins, Little Simz.

All of the above (baring SFA) are active at European festivals in August.  Nick Cave is also very active but seems too big and also playing APE so very unlikely.

EDIT:  I guess you could also consider Fleet Foxes, King Gizzard and Father John Misty as well but seems too soon for either one of them to return.

Supposedly he's only doing one show in Europe this year; at the Barbican with an orchestra. On sale tomorrow  so gonna see if I can get tickets...

It was 2020-21, not 2022... We're losing count 😭

Still at this one.

Oh right that's June not August.

What's more, that festival is in Helsinki and he was due to play Flow in the same city in August last couple of years. So it seems, if he's not only not announced for stuff in August and is replacing with earlier dates that directly conflict, he won't be around Europe in August.

Seems like great news for most here.

But haven't they all played quite recently anyway so we're never expected anyway?

Shazza was obviously at the last non-Covid festival but I don't think Angel has played since 2017 and I'm not sure Julien ever has! Either way both of the later two would be touring new-ish music.

That would be a very impressive line up, even if JH and MK are a bit too boring for my tastes. Little Simz was brilliant at EOTR and on her most recent tour.

Low headlining the Garden stage at EOTR was one of the best sets I've seen in my 5 years there. I feel like Bikini Kill are unlikely for that slot but I may well be proved wrong

Michael Kiwanuka, Jon Hopkins, Little Simz and Beach House would be ideal.

Far out: Low, Parquet Courts, Bikini Kill.

I think Ty Segall, Alex G, Viagra Boys, and Sudan Archives will be amongst the returners from the 2020 line up.

The one fly in the ointment is if Little Dragon were contracted to headline - they've got nothing currently listed for the summer and it looks like they've abandoned the world tour they had planned from spring 2020 but for all we know could be ready for a new album.

I don't know where Simz is on other festival bills this year but if playing I can see her as either sub-head to Kiwanuka or possibly headlining Far Out in an attempt to recreate the Self Esteem atmosphere.

Ty Segall is in Europe around the time so it makes sense.

I'll probably cry during the Low set if they play. They are easily my favourite band.
