not a headline shout or anything but is it likely that the vaccines will be there next year? (really want to see them live)

Central Cee is way bigger than the likes of Pale Waves, Bad Boy Chiller Crew/Digga D, Circa Waves, Joy Crookes etc. We're just gonna go in circles discussing where he'd be placed on the lineup, however, I'm very very confident he'd be a 2nd/3rd down act on a main stage, or a special guest - his main core audience are the majority of people who head to R&L too. I said the same about DBE being a sub, and look what happened this year! If we still had the R1 Stage, he'd very comfortably headline that. At the point he is in his career, he is only going to get bigger and bigger, and is very calculated and good at marketing himself which only helps his trajectory rise, especially by the time next August rolls around.

And DBE have sold out the o2 and have sold a second night pretty well. That's nothing compared to central cee who has sold ally pally poorly.  Reckon he's 3rd down at best

J Hus at his peak (when 'did you see what I done' came out) was same size as what Central Cee is now. J Hus played about 4pm on the R1 stage.

Central Cee would play about 4th down on the Main Stage at most right now.

As an 18yo I can confirm Central Cee would easily fit 2nd or 3rd down on a stage and is way too big to headline r1 or be anything but a logo name on the poster

edit: and I’m not even a big fan

18 year olds go to the festival whatever, it’s tougher to sell tickets to the market that actually generates revenue at the festival…

So while there’s no doubt it seems he’ll draw a massive crowd. The 18 year olds, as proven, will flock in at 4pm to see him and then promptly flick out again to booze/ pill themselves back up at the their tents.

If he’s struggling to sell live tickets, then the assumption that his name high up on the bill of a festival won’t help shift tickets for the festival is a relatively sound one, esp if it’s to a market that is not his.

Silly attitude to have this, complacency is the death of any festival.

If this was true they would book 6 headline acts to sell day tickets and then the weekend ones would sell themself, something thats obvious not the case.

Main stage

This was 2017, the tent was rammed and security stopped people going in, I was about 30 people back listening in the crowd outside the tent.

It was against Giggs/Drake on the MS.

I think it's more testament to how far the festival has fallen in bringing acts in rather than an argument over how big acts are.

Central Cee in old money is probably 3rd down on the R1 stage. Pale Waves would be 2nd or 3rd up on the MS. BBCC would be mid afternoon on the Dance stage.

DBE would have subbed R1 stage. Aitch would sub MS or headline R1, and so would KSI.

The crowd are going to watch what is offered. If you put 10 peices of poop in front of someone and ask them to choose, they're still going to go for poop.

We're arguing what the best poo is because more people chose it, when really we should be arguing why are we only being offered poo, when before we were offered a mix of poo and things to our taste.

If your going to correct me at least check what your saying. In 2017 J Hus played 5th down in the Radio 1 ... Xtra tent. This was after Giggs - Wiley was in the R1 against Giggs.

J Hus then played 4th main stage in 2018.

----

Not sure how you've worked out that DBE with two o2 dates, one sold out is subbing the old R1 stage which was last played in 2019 by titans such as CHVRCHES and Mabel...

They’re not being complacent though. They’re booking who the kids want to see, the latest up and coming acts, to maintain that audience, while selling to the other audience with top billing acts.

It has ever been thus.

Where they’re being complacent (ans ever with me!) is by cutting down on slots. Eventually both audiences may think there is not enough for them? No one else to watch while Central is on? No one else to watch while Green Day are on?

I don't disagree with you the new setup is shit i think everyone here thinks that - i'm just saying that 'the kids' will stop going if they are taken for granted

I’m not suggesting they are or will be, just that Central Cee may not get a sub-spot, despite many thinking he is a big enough name to do so, due to the fact he won’t help shift tickets to much of audience they need to attract with the lineup.

KSI it seems has been given a big slot for the kids

In the old days, sounds like he could’ve been a shoe in big tent filler, up against Greenday or similar. An actual big event for the kids, as opposed to a 4th on the day anti-climax

They said this summer was their last UK show for a "little while" so I was expecting them to wait until next album cycle to tour again - but a year break would definitely qualify as a little while.

Agree with what you've said ( i don't think he's subbing - more of a MSW third to be honest, maybe MSE third if he's lucky)

He's just sold out his WHP show, main room only so i think about 6-7k tickets maybe?

Where have I corrected you?

I was there. I watched Giggs / Drake and then went Drake went off I went to watch J Hus, we couldn't get in as the tent was already rammed and was a layer 50 deep surrounding.

This was at J Hus peak when songs such as Playing Sports, and Did you see had absolutely blown off. Central Cee is that size now with Doja and Retail Therapy.

D Block Europe last year is smaller than Sam Fender, Rex OC, and AJ Tracey were in 2019. They all headlined R1. Past headliners Dave, Bastille, Wolf Alice, 1975, Diplo, Halsey were all far bigger than DBE now when they headlined R1.

MSW sub is about the size of R1 small headliner / big sub. DBE would be a big sub.

Mabel was popping off that year when she subbed R1 too.

I guess as you are still only a teenager, you don't really have reference to the size some of those acts were back then. We can see how big acts are now and can see that the quality of bookings has taken a nosedive for the 2 main stages.

In fairness, a 22 split would look good as:

Dave + Halsey / Bastille (R1 -  Megan Thee Stallion)

Arctic Monkeys / Charli XCX (R1 - D Block Europe)

1975 + BMTH / Wolf Alice (R1 - Glass Animals)

Heaps to breakdown here:

1. this is where you corrected me.  Here you said J Hus was against Giggs when he wasn't. Not sure how J Hus filling the tent helps your argument either 😂

2. The main point is so lost in nonsense now.

Mabel may have been 'popping off' but she certainly wasn't selling out the O2 + adding an extra date in 2019.

CHVRCHES weren't either - that year they played Ally Pally

You said DBE would have subbed R1 tent and then have just said in the top quote above a 22 split would look good with DBE headlining the R1 stage. You have zero consistency.
