The Strokes / Sam Fender

Billie Eillish / Foals

Green Day / KSI

I love the strokes but really don’t they have that pull anymore to be a viable MSE booking as an older act

still not sure about the ksi thing and not sure about SF headlining MSE in 23 seems more likely for 24 imo but

With Sam:
Sam Fender / Kasabian or doja

Billie Eilish / Foals

Kendrick Lamar / Paramore

without Sam:

Green day / kasabian or doja

billie eilish / foals

Travis scott / paramore

Could the 1975 play twice in two years?

Post Malone did it...

2021's line-up was makeshift because of COVID. It was half acts they'd booked for 2020 and the other half was basically anyone they could get. They won't book The 1975 two years in a row, and for the third time in five years. And if they did they certainly wouldn't be putting out teasers like that.

any chance that the lineup get released this month (in late november)

First announcement for R&L was December 8th 2022. So on that basis, might have to wait a bit, although 2019's line-up announcement did come the preceding November.

We're approaching the sort of time I'd expect to hear it tbf, though I presume there'll be some form of "Announcing the announcement date" Tweet/IG post at some point soon enough.

Kinda off-topic, but does anyone else miss the days when you'd see the lineup the day before the announcement if you had an NME postal subscription because they had a massive poster advert?

I think the lineup used to come out on Wednesdays and you'd sometimes get the magazine early on Tuesdays

I miss the days when Dan would give us tidbits of information over a few days before the announcement, and you'd get excited when you saw he was reading the forum. Predictions are flying out by the minute and Dan says yay or nay. The lineup drops and you log on an hour later to 100+ posts discussing it.

Now we get told the headliners 2 months prior, we have to go through the *5 stages of grief over hearing KSI is headlining. The predictions end and the forum dies for a few months, with meager discussion whether our favourite band will make an appearance on the FR stage.

*

Denial - "no way, he isn't big enough, thats a lie"

Anger - "they're killing the festival, this is what killed V Fest"

Bargaining - "Maybe they booked him so they can stack the undercard"

Depression - "This is the worst lineup in history"

Acceptance - "I guess kids just like music that requires <10 seconds attention span, at least I've got my memories of the festival"

One of your more based posts 😉 but yeah you’re right, this forum doesn’t feel how it used to.

Tbf this place as a whole feels more active than some other deadspace forums that were busy to the point of overload about a decade ago.

I’ve only been around on this forum for about 5 years in various accounts over the years, but I can imagine forums being a lot busier a decade ago. I suspect the rise of Facebook and Twitter has made a fair few forums redundant over the years.
