gfa
Just hearing this now. Hilarious massive MSW headliner. Fair play if true as boring as it is, will probably help get both sides close to sell out. Its what they needed really

Most artists in that slot seem to play around 15 songs. But Id love something like the above. Although, swap Somebody Else for About You. Jericode
I mean if they don't replace Slowthai as well they can just give them an extended set and re-jig the day

Some actual decent counter programming by the festival

Slowthai - 2,081,001 monthly listeners Knucks - 3,573,323 monthly listeners Not that it's really a true measure of anything, but nearly double the listeners on Spotify than Slowthai. Dukey
Knucks is decent but as a sub?! Is he really that big?!
charlierc
So are The 1975 to now keep that weekend free from now until they retire just in case they're needed as an emergency headliner?
Guest
I think it's cool that they've given Knucks that slot. One of the more exciting rappers in the UK right now and he's pretty popular. A unique The 1975 set and Knucks are decent replacements, I'd say. Could've been a lot worse.
Jericode
He played 3rd down on 1xtra last year so that's another repeat for whoever was keeping track.
thatTFBguy
Whelp, that's me £200 poorer after the confirmation. Already curious to know which headliner 1975 will fill in for next year.

Probably what they had planned for this year all along though before The 1975 were drafted in last year, just shows FR have sunk so far that they’ll book anyone if it gets them out of a hole. At least Sleep Token are on the FR Stage. I recall when Muse played Reading 2011 they did Origin of Symmetry in full, and indeed Green Day did Dookie in full there in 2013, so it's not the first time that's happened tbf. Benj
Never heard of Knucks but 1975 are a good add…for ticket sales at least Will attract miles more than Courteeners/ Royal Blood etc despite plying everywhere under the sun in the last year
VCK
😆The f**king 1975, again. At this point they're clearly and deliberately taking the piss.

andyrhodes24
Does anyone know if tickets are eligible for resale yet on ticketmaster or when they might be? Hanging on for a cheapy
VCK
Maybe my hopes for Pulp or QOTSA were pitched a little too high, but that's beyond parody. The festival is quite clearly going through what football fans on Twitter call its banter era right now.
FloorFiller
It’s very silly that they’re headlining yet again, but also FR would’ve been stupid to turn them down and scouted out what would’ve undoubtedly been a weaker option. They’re not totally my thing, but all of their previous sets have been highly praised by even the doubters so at least they’re guaranteed to deliver on the night. wro_lap
That's left a really sour taste in my mouth. I'm a real fan of this year's lineup and after Healy's recent behaviour I can't help but feel like that's a dampener on it. And yes I'm being serious, I know the lineup isn't to everyone's taste and that's fine. But booking them to headline two years in a row is pathetic
gregory
Hoping Knucks was a cheap/short option and they might give The 1975 90 mins or something for a decent-sized hits set after playing self-titled. Knucks will do a proper set. definitely an in demand act i doubt the 1975 will be less than like 80 mins, they can just knock 5 mins off the first few acts to play if necessary
