IDLES at Liverpool Arena last night. The venue was too big for them but the sound was excellent and they put on a great show. Sadly, we missed Lambrini Girls but will be seeing them at their own gig in the not too distant future.

Michael Monroe at the Electric Ballroom, 40 years (😬) of 2 Steps from the Move.

One advantage of a band of old duffers is they sure are tight.

Nice! A load of mates went to the Wolverhampton gig last night, looks like it was a good one.

Is he still the world's greatest frontman?

Gruff Rhys and Bill Ryder Jones in Birmngham on Tuesday.

It felt a bit of a weird gig with it all seating and I was quite near the front of a half-full venue.

Gruff's drummer great as always and BRJ had some good stage chat. I thought the second half of both sets was better. Both were decent enough but nothing amazing. I probably have Gruff fatigue though from seeing him too often.

Pretty much ... he certainly still puts in a shift, and is still clambering the speaker stacks and lighting rigs. Not entirely sure the heavy make-up works in close up, it's all a bit Bet Lynch. It's now Sami Yaffa who's the star of the show - top notch bassist and still pretty darn cool.

Michael Kiwanuka at Jacaranda Baltic in Liverpool.

A stripped back album launch show so you only get about 45 minutes, but always nice to see bigger acts in a small venue.

I went to the Kingston one last night.  Great seeing him in such a small venue, very intimate and he was having good interaction with the between songs.  90 minute drive for me for a 50 minute set but it was well worth it.
