Gnomicide
IDLES at Liverpool Arena last night. The venue was too big for them but the sound was excellent and they put on a great show. Sadly, we missed Lambrini Girls but will be seeing them at their own gig in the not too distant future.
Fishman
One for @Gnomicide .... Michael Monroe at the Electric Ballroom, 40 years (😬) of 2 Steps from the Move. One advantage of a band of old duffers is they sure are tight.

A load of mates went to the Wolverhampton gig last night, looks like it was a good one. Is he still the world's greatest frontman?
Chip Batch
Gruff Rhys and Bill Ryder Jones in Birmngham on Tuesday. It felt a bit of a weird gig with it all seating and I was quite near the front of a half-full venue. Gruff's drummer great as always and BRJ had some good stage chat. I thought the second half of both sets was better. Both were decent enough but nothing amazing. I probably have Gruff fatigue though from seeing him too often. Pretty much ... he certainly still puts in a shift, and is still clambering the speaker stacks and lighting rigs. Not entirely sure the heavy make-up works in close up, it's all a bit Bet Lynch. It's now Sami Yaffa who's the star of the show - top notch bassist and still pretty darn cool.

A stripped back album launch show so you only get about 45 minutes, but always nice to see bigger acts in a small venue. I went to the Kingston one last night. Great seeing him in such a small venue, very intimate and he was having good interaction with the between songs. 90 minute drive for me for a 50 minute set but it was well worth it. gingerevans84
On a run of 5 gigs in a week. Started off with Been Stellar at the Scala, good stuff. Bit of Interpol, spot of Radiohead and Bloc Party. Top venue as well. Next stop Sleep Token at the o2. Fearsome live reputation so tickets bought off Twickets for pennies this morning. Also, anyone fancying Idles at Ally Pally, tickets are dirt cheap.
Talcroft
On the way home from Sprints in Manchester. What a band. They should skip Woodsies and get straight on Other next year. Phenomenal. Karla is some front woman. Only complaint is New Century sound needs whacking up.

One of my gigs of the year. Chalk were excellent in support too (I missed the 1st support act)
mjtko
The Snuts were excellent value in Birmingham last night, as were both their support acts: unsigned singer-songwriter Jasper Hodges who is definitely showing a lot of promise and Siobhán Winifred who I'd put in approximately the same crate as Holly Humberstone or Phoebe Bridgers. After already having an early Friday slot on The Other this year, don't know if The Snuts will return next year, but if they do, it'll definitely be higher up the bill. Could be big enough to sub on Woodsies now? Also, Siobhán Winifred could definitely fit an early Woodsies slot. Anyway, go see them all if you can! lazyred
Paul Heaton in Bridlington last night. The new songs are great and plenty of the classics.
Dales
IDLES last night at Ally Pally, they were pretty awesome although maybe the set list needs mixing up a bit bu that might be because it was the third timing seeing them this year. Was hoping to see more of Lambrini Girls as they were on early and I was stuck in traffic. I caught a few songs, enough to know that I will try to catch them in the future. nikkic
Idles at Ally Pally last night. Really great set from them, they really do have a stellar set list these days. Crowd were awful though, full of angry old men with a chip on their shoulder.
dondo
2nd gig of the weekend, Paul Heaton in Leeds. Great gig despite a fight nearly kicking off next to us.

elgatonegrofabricwardrobe
Fontaines were on top form last night. Shame that it was only a one song encore coz Grian said his voice was f**ked. Well impressed with the sound at Aviva Studios too
Dales
Last night Palace at Eventim Apollo. Enjoyable but a little slow paced in parts but then again that’s their style.
Ben7amin_
Sprints smashed it as per every other reiview of them - Deserve a go in an early slot on Woodsies or even the Other stage this year
CharlotteB
Saw Our Girl the other day. Absolutely fantastic! Really nice crowd, too. Surprised to see Fern (Big Moon drummer) on some percussion instruments and the sound effects board too!

Ah not just me who thought the crowd was sh*t. Was on the far side as you walk into the hall and the amount of older folk just barging and shoving past was uncalled for. The show itself was outstanding. The Idles live show has been superb for a number of years.

Really was quite weird.

Different experience at the back by the bar, everyone seemed to be in high spirits. I bought this older couple a pint and had a boogie. It was fab. There were a couple that I could hear be moaning the f**k the Tory chants and left during the f**k the king chant quite early on but other than that. Great night.
