Amyl & the Sniffers at York Hall last night. Sound was a bit muddy but they were brilliant - crowd was well up for it too. Highly doubt they'll be in such small venues after this tour.

I went to the Thursday show and agree they were brilliant. She is so full of energy that you can't help but get caught up in it all. Thought the support COFFIN were also fun. You don't often get to see the lead singer also being the drummer.

I do like York Hall and wish more bands would play there. It's only a bus ride away for me which is a bonus.

I guess being the weekend you might hear something official tomorrow?

Yes, just read the tweet that @CaledonianGonzohas posted.  Will have to wait to see when the rescheduled date is,just hope it’s suitable for us. Ironically I’ve just had the ‘looking forward to Florence’ e mail from ticketmaster!

Got the train down to Brighton after work to see Bellowhead for what i think must be the...10th time.  They were playing in London a few days earlier but sod seeing them in the Albert Hall, that place is a atmosphere vacuum for up-tempo gigs.

The vibe was a bit strange but I've never been to the Brighton Dome before so it was nice to tick that off the list. Bellowhead themselves were excellent as usual. Sea-shanties, Murder ballads and songs about being swindled by prostitutes, what more could you want?

I'd love to see them at the farm. Either west holts again or acoustic tent would be great. i'm surprised they don't play there more often to be honest.

Hate to tell you but the Albert Hall gig was brilliant. As was the Brighton one.

And Sam Sweeney needs more recognition.

Went to Cologne to see Amyl & the Sniffers on Monday.
Was one of the most fun and sweaty gigs I’ve ever been to.

Saw them at The Leadmill last night, really great fun. Enjoyed COFFIN beforehand too, great energy

Saw Kaiser Chiefs and The Fratellis last night... Great night with good friends, but the gig itself was a bit meh

Took my son to the Glasgow gig, if I was a fratellis fan I'd have been well pissed off. The volume was well turned down for them to come on first. Unenjoyably so, cranked right up for kaisers.

I can't go that crap, kaisers even tho much louder were very much meh.

I saw a ton of negative reviews for their London O2 date and Ricky Wilson even apologising for his performance during it after admitting he drank a lot pre-show. Did it clear that bar?

Yes it cleared that bar, it definitely wasn't an absolute s**t show like the O2 gig. He was professional and there was nothing specifically wrong that I can put my finger on. I can't even blame the set list, as I prefer bands to mix in their bangers throughout the whole set, rather than play them all at the end, and that's what they did.

I think there was just a lack of energy from them tbh, which is a shame, because the crowd was very lively for a Notts Arena crowd. My original assessment really is the best I can give. It was just 'meh.' Nothing glaringly wrong, nothing to get excited about. Just meh...

Red Rum Club at the Garage in Islington. Superb gig - struggle to find a better live band out there than RRC, they deserve to be much bigger than they are.

Never seen them live yet but would really like to. The dates they have played locally have for one reason or another never worked. Think they would do a great festival set though so there's another for my list of ones I'd like to appear on the farm.

Text from Daughter yesterday asking what time I would be in Bristol to pick her up from a gig, lack of trains for her. Yep I had forgotten.  Come along she says. OK I say.

So I find myself at the Thekla on a Monday night.

Missed first support but second one was really good, Eyelar. Great vocals great guitars with some filthy fuzz at times. Great chat and lovely speech about raising awareness for the situation in Iran,  with a great cover of another Love.

Headline act was Upshal. Enjoyed her too. Brilliant energy in the room which she whipped up nicely.

Got to meet her after to take some photos with my Daughter.

I was on the balcony and was fascinated by the people that filmed the whole show on the front row. All big fans who stayed long after the show to met her. But, yea fascinating that they could not let themselves go and get more involved . Others certainly did both. Each to there own but wonder if they somehow missed more of an experience. I know it has been talked about on here before, don't think I have seen it in a small sweaty show.

I know what you mean. I find it bizarre. I'm not one of these people who objects to phones at gigs completely and I will usually take a couple of photos and maybe even 1 video of a favourite song of about 1 minute (especially if I think it sounds good etc and I have a spot where I can do it without interrupting others view too much) but some people seem to hold their phones up for the entire gig. When you see them concentrating and as you say not even able to enjoy it because they are concentrating on film you feel like they are missing out. Although the other group are the ones who dance around etc whilst still filming the whole thing occasionally filming themselves as well and all for what must be utterly unwatchable footage afterwards.

Anyone seen Royal Blood? A band I've never got around to watching. Are they good live? I'd love to see them somewhere on the bill for Glasto...what are the chances?

Saw them years ago on their first album and very much enjoyed them. Never seen them since though.

Seen them twice this year, both times at a festival. Decent, but nothing to write home about.

They're decent enough. Inoffensive, generic riff-based rock-by-numbers duo. There are acts that do what they do, but slightly better (Death From Above 1979, The Last Internationale, The Black Keys) but they're worth a watch. Quite good in 2017 before The XX (IIRC)

Saw Royal Blood last summer at Victorious and they were outstanding, far better than I expected.

Managed to catch Sam Fender the other night in Melbourne, very solid gig and seems like a nice lad too. Khruangbin coming up next which should be a very exciting one, definitely a good festival band.
