Some rain is around in the early hours of Sunday morning, plus a small amount on Sunday night, but it's not amounting to much at all.

Now onto to the start of the festival.

WEDNESDAY MORNING - GATES OPEN

Totally dry, but highs of 15 today. This would suggest the low pressure is working harder tonight.

Now onto that crucial part. How is the high pressure doing against the low?

Actually, if anything we seem to be in a better position at 9am on Wednesday. Latest on the left usual.

The first days of the festival. How will the trend develop tonight?

WEDNESDAY

Dry, highs of 20.

And the picture remains very similar for high vs. low.

THURSDAY

Dry, highs of 23.

The high remains in command. No sign of the low intruding.

So the trend is starting to look pretty solid for the Wednesday and Thursday next week, fingers crossed.

But the real uncertainty is over what happens from Friday onwards. So here we go.

FRIDAY

Dry, bar the chance of a light shower around 6pm, and another pleasant day at 22 degrees.

High pressure is not quite as dominant here, though. But at the same time, the actual low pressure belt is held further north.

The KNIFE. EDGE. is back for the weekend.

SATURDAY

Bad news! The low is trying to move in and with it comes rain - for most of the daytime before clearing. Max temps of just 16

We can see the nature of the KNIFE. EDGE. through the early hours of Saturday morning, as the high tries to push south into the UK but just gets repelled. Latest on the left.

The pressure is most certainly lower in this run without the low coming down fully, but it's a worry.

There's now the threat of more rain, possibly heavy, in the early hours of Sunday as the influence of the low is felt. Rain runs through until after 3pm.

HOWEVER. This run has high temperatures of JUST 8-9 degrees in the middle of the daytime. 😆 We can safely file this as a dirty outlier!

 

 

The low isn't dominant either, though pressure is lower.

 

SUMMARY

Not a great end to the run with the rain around on Saturday and Sunday. I'd be more concerned if the run wasn't showing 8-9 degrees on Sunday at 3pm - the chances of which happening must be slim to non-existent. And it's TOO EARLY.

But the roller-coaster is very much still rollin'.

Can I just say on behalf of the hundreds of us amateur viewers/obsessive who have lived the last 2 weeks+ on this thread, A massive Thank you to @briddj for turning greens/reds and squiggly lines into an understandable ‘it’s glorious / it’s crap / it’s a knife edge’ narrative that the rest of us can understand.

Of course we all appreciate the input of@The Nal aka the grim reaper and @FuzzyDunlop aka Olaf from Frozen but on behalf of the rest of us @briddj you are our shining light of ‘what is actually bloody going on’ amongst all the other noise!

Personally I prefer the drier days to be earlier anyway if I had to choose - good weather days more important when there's no bands to see and early rain ruins conditions underfoot even for later sunnier days.
