Now, don't take this as an application to join Team Cold, but 17 is more than manageable. If it's still shorts and light coat weather then you can crack on very happily and potentially even leave that day bag behind, depending on what you're carrying.

I like it when you can use words like "lovely" or "glorious" or "really nice" to describe the weather, but as long as you're not using words like "chilly" when you're wearing a coat, then game on!

Out of interest, for the real experts amongst us... How much are the models affected by current conditions. Are current conditions likely to sway the models / simulations into swinging one way over another? 

Seems a bit of a coincidence that some of the worst runs happen just as we're experiencing our worst weather in weeks.

Now dropping "this weekend" part going through to Wednesday for the start of the updates.

WEDNESDAY MORNING - GATES OPEN

Small amount of rain around this weekend, then completely dry through to Wednesday 9am when it's 20 degrees - the warmest we've seen for a few runs actually.

What about the early pressure development?

Generally, a very similar position. Pressure slightly higher at 9am Weds, hence the temps.

But we all know that it's what happens over the next 48-72 hours that is going to be so crucial.

It looks pretty sure the site will be dry at gates open.

All through this it will be latest on the left, previous on the right.

So, we're all now getting on site. What's in store?

WEDNESDAY

Dry, temps of 24.

Again, the pressure picture is very similar.

THURSDAY

Highs of 25, but some showers around in the evening on this run that clear later.

Not so great here. The lower pressure is having an impact earlier than on the 00Z.

Now the music begins and this is the part, and why this is all a KNIFE. EDGE.

FRIDAY

Highs of 19, but a fair amount of rain around during the day. Some of it could be on the heavy side.

The low pressure is making real inroads in this latest run.

 

SATURDAY

A horrible update with rain throughout the day, some of it heavy. Highs of 16.

Real influence from the low.

 

SUNDAY

Largely dry with showers and the threat of more rain in the evening. Highs of 18.

Really bad news, with a low sat over the UK again.

MONDAY - LEAVING THE SITE

Showers through the departure, too.

SUMMARY

A terrible update, and we're back to where we were on Thursday.

Extensive rain from the start of the festival proper with very few breaks.

Again, it's TOO EARLY.

But that low pressure continues to be a real, real worry.

KNIFE. EDGE.

I hate this thread because I was scrolling through that thinking "hmmm, I'll take that pretty decent" only to find out that it's a "terrible update" 🤣

Rain on one day, showers others. On to  already hard ground. It'll be fine.

Last times they predicted this was for Wednesday and now it looks amazing temperature wise.

Remember on Wednesday there was going to be biblical storms on Sunday, but now forecast a cloudy day with a bit of rain... It's still all to play for.

What could've been. Glorious sun, gentle breeze and space to sit down and relax if needed.

 

Now we're looking at endless showers without warning, lethargically traipsing around the paths like cattle because everywhere else it too muddy, nowhere to sit down when you're eating, 5 days of back pain, rain splashing into your pint, reversing into your freezing cold tent at night on your arse in the pitch black while battling to take your wellies off trying to minimise how much mud you get in your tent as the other half is giving out, huge queues for water and showers, dead atmospheres at gigs, people leaving early, dropping your phone in the mud, taking twice as long to walk between stages and sweating like boil in the bag rice in your rain mac while all the while pretending to enjoy yourself.
