There’s talk on the netweather forums of 40c next Saturday.

The weather for the whole of next week will be lovely but Wednesday onwards see the ovens turned on.

If only this was all happening the week after 🤦‍♂️

I mean I love hot weather, but I would rather it rain than have to try and cope with 40°C at the festival.

I looked out the window this morning, it was cloudy and breezy. Checked the BBC weather forecast, where it said it was to be similar, cloudy and breezy, all day and that would continue all weekend.

Around midday the sun came out, and the clouds cleared. It was sunny and breezy. Rechecked the BBC, where the forecast had changed to sunny and breezy all weekend.

At 4pm there was a torrential downpour. BBC had changed to torrential rain all weekend.

Skies had clear by 6pm, sun came out..... BBC forecast now changed to sunny all weekend.

Conclusion: BBC weather forecasts are produced by someone looking out of a window.

Must be that curtain twitching neighbour you've always wondered about...

It’s not always that accurate for me. Yesterday it said there was 10% chance of rain and it was pissing it down outside.

Depends. Some years have shown relatively settled predictions this far out (2007 an obvious one, also 2016 I think) and haven't changed much, but for most years there's plenty of time to change. What we want to avoid is consensus developing over next few days around a low sitting for the whole week.

But 2019 looked terrible at this point and was lovely, and 2015 looked like it was going to be pretty great the week before until we got hit by a couple of random downpours.

Yeah, when a breakdown is predicted, it's quite easy for that to move in time and in space. I.e. the fronts might meet somewhere else, or a week or later/earlier than predicted.

2010 was also like that. Proper rollercoaster, until the Azores finger sorted us out good and proper.
