Album of the Month - February 2022

On this day in 1967 the Beatles recorded A Day In The Life, in 1972 David Bowie launched the Ziggy Stardust tour, in 1973 Elton Joh n had his first no 1 album, in 1997 Blur released Blur, in 2004 Diana Ross was sentenced to two days in prison for drink driving and in 2022 @blutarskydecided to launch the eFests album of the month for February 2022 competition.

Last month I'd not listened to many albums and used the thread for recommendations and crammed in some last minute listening. Others said the same. This month lets get ahead of that and use the thread for discussion throughout the month.

Voting window for your top 3 opens on February 25th and closes on March 4th.

I mean, Black Country, New Road have just released the greatest album of the decade, which kind of makes it the best album of the year, and therefore the best album of February 2022.

I'm also excited for caroline's debut coming out February 25th, loved each of the singles so far.

The new Animal Collective album has been pretty good as well.

New Florence and The Machine was out last Friday. Currently listening - very on brand but so far missing the 2-3 bangers it would need to make it worth repeat listening. It's missing a Dog Days are Over, Kiss With A Fist, Ship To Wreck etc joyous sing-a-long belter.

That’s just a compilation album

Oh yeah - missed that - I wouldn't know album tracks. Why release a compilation of lesser known songs?

Not sure but she had another one out the week before - which has now disappeared - with all the songs themed around water (this one you've been listening to seems to have some sort of 'haunted' vibe). All very curious.

r/FlorenceAndTheMachine - A compilation has just got published on Spotify!! "Water To Drink Not Write About" - With all songs that feature water

My top 3 for the month is one of the easiest decisions ever for me, although the order is not so easy. It seems ridiculous to say so early in the year, but these three could easily be my top 3 albums at the end of the year:

1. BCNR - Ants from up there

2. Sea Power - Everything was forever

3. Frank Turner - FTHC

Unlucky Shovels & Rope and Big Thief, any other month you'd have been in the top 3 - incredible month!

1. Rat Heart Ensemble - A Blues

2. Huerco S - Plonk

3. Raum - Daughter

So much good electronic music right now. An exceptional month really.

Outside of these the caroline is my favourite although I only listened to it for the first time today and it may have made the top 3 with more listens.
