To be fair to Neil at the height of the Gucci Piggy nonsense there where dozens of alt-acccounts posting spam threads, pretending to be other posters, and posting a lot of hardcore pornography. 

As Somto he may not have crossed the line from mucking about to being an issue but he certainly had previously.

Everyone comes to this forum for the same thing - to discuss and share info on Glastonbury.

I've been on other forums (football related mostly) where any deviations from the core topics are shut down immediately and others where there is little moderation and all sorts of weird and wonderful conversations and detours crop up, and yes occasionally people overstep the mark and act like twats. Personally I much prefer the latter to the former, it all gets very dry and joyless if we can only stick to the approved topics. I love it when things go off on a bit of a random tangent.

I can see Neil's point that this site is his work and livelihood and he feels the need to protect as he sees fit. Some of us who have been around a while will remember that there were some serious incidents with GP and his mates a few years ago that did cause problems, so I can see why Neil would be wary and suspicious about letting them back on site.

On the other hand, that was a while ago and people do grow up a bit, I can only speak for myself but I didn't see a huge amount wrong with what the likes of GP and PC were posting, admittedly I found the influx of alt-accounts a couple of months posting stupid bullshit annoying and I did say something, but we regularly get these same few trolls showing up. Somto have gotten a little carried away sometimes with his strange threads and excessive dabbing, but most of the time he was sound and just in my opinion maybe a quiet word would have sufficed rather than nuking him.

I love this place and (most of) its residents and would hate to see the fun stripped out and it become needlessly authoritarian.

Just my two cents, now back to the motherfucking festival!

You’re currently doing that more than any poster on here ever could. I like this forum, enjoy the people on here and even like the occasional silliness that some people bring, but… whatever this is you’re currently doing is gonna drive people away. I understand that banning people is sometimes necessary, but honestly you need to loosen this iron fist on the forum, especially when it comes to stuff as dumb as a forum inside joke that you don’t take kindly to. Just fucking stupid.
