You don't think they could find a sponsor for the newer bands to cover a 1500 or so tickets so bands who are busting their balls to make it in the industry can afford to play? We aren't even talking about big numbers here in the grand scale of the festival
That means giving up cheap (free) media coverage and influencer exposure.
Why would they do this when there's a queue of small bands and aspiring artists waiting in the wings?

Weds - Hinds, Caribou
Thurs - CMAT, Parcels, Denzel Curry, Twigs (or whoever replaces her when she cancels), Idles, Jamie xx, Kelly Lee Owens
Fri - TV on the Radio, Waxahatchee, Beach House, Floating Points
Sat - Squid, Mj Lenderman, Lcd soundsystem, Fontaines DC
Thursday a lot busier than the other two and relatively early finish Saturday, but that would represent a very good weekend, I reckon.
That said, I don't have a ticket and judging by their social posts, they'll have sold out before I get around to picking one up. 😂
They were absolutely fabulous this year, even if everyone was watching Avril at that time. Since Thom did the whole "please pretend you'll having a marvelous time so I can send a video of me crowd surfing to Emily cause we want that TV slot next year" bit, I really hoped they'd be there again next year.
