Maybe cause some want to keep receiving what they deserve when it comes to a fair wage? You understand that touring right now is not sustainable for a lot of artists so taking the money when its in front of you is for survival? Having to choose between putting food on the table or the apparent moral high ground sometimes isnt an option for a lot.

I mean Bruce was 1000% honest about his thoughts when it came to ticket prices. He prob knows this might be his last tour and he wants go get the most he can and also sees how tickets were essentially under valued and he wasnt even  getting that money that resellers were getting. We're also forgetting that his bandmates and crew share in the profits, but we only focus on the big name. If he is making sure everyone else is being taken care of financially then what do we think of him. Of course I dont think its fair that we have to deal with this crap, but thats how it goes.

If Glastonbury actually cost what it should when it comes To the talent theyre able to book while offering almost no money to them then Im sure most people here wouldnt go cause they would be upset its too expensive. But that day is coming much sooner than we think anyway. The fest should easily  cost another £100 more than where its at now. But everyone wants things for cheap. And thats the other thing, you wouldnt want to pay money to see certain artists on their own because you want the convenience the festival provides that will save you money in that aspect. So if you refuse to go support artists outside of a festival environment then how can they carry on when record sales do nothing nowadays.

Textbook suprefan…

If it's in the legend slot it would be a scoop 🙂  - think someone said he's generally playing sets of his best stuff lately, but if he were to play his hits it'd probably do pretty well.  Think I've managed to avoid most of his music for nearly a decade, so it might sound pretty good by now.

Next year it’ll be twenty years since he last put out a studio album. Twenty years! Guns and Roses have released more studio albums during that time than ol’Norm.

would you have said the same about other stage headliner ? I probably would have done tbh

Umm, not particularly, other stage headliner makes infinitely more sense than Norman blasting out 90s rave bangers in the mid afternoon sun on a Sunday

probably on my own here but id love him as the legend hes certainly one of those in Glastonbury icon terms  ( dont think it will happen though ) he had an other headline slot cancelled because of covid didnt he ?

I suggested it a few months back. A huge part of the fabric of the modern history of the festival, loads of fun, accessible/familiar to all ages and a dance act that would work in the day time. Totally deserving to be recognised as a Glastonbury legend in my view. Would have a decent crowd and stoke up a party atmosphere ahead of Reg later on

Perennial friend of the festival, and I’ll literally play on any stage you want me to multiple times over a weekend every single year Fatboy Slim, would be about as far removed from the word ‘scoop’ if he was playing the legend slot as would be humanely possible.

I see we’ve gone back to the yardstick of “but they get big crowds” as the yardstick for the legend slot again.

Lovely stuff people.

Pros: Good crowds, fun, not released a studio album in decades, part of the fabric of the festival.

Cons: a bit dancey; someone has pissed in your chips this morning; plays too often already

Just noticed that Paul Weller is performing a few dates just before Glasto...he would make a fine addition for the Legends slot. And if he was to bring on any former band members as guests then that would be simply marvellous !

He last played as sub-headliner in 2015, he does always play the more popular material from his solo era as well as a couple of Jam and Style Council numbers, but he definitely doesn't have the "play the hits" mentality needed for the legend slot.

Seems to me it’s important in a way that the big bands keep getting the big money. If they were running around doing things for free then probably it wouldn’t make your local village fete expect you and your mates to play for free, but it would certainly have a negative knock on effect down stream on the value put on music as an art, and therefore would probably reduce fees right down the scale.

In which case what was the issue with people discussing crisps or Mika playing Glastonbury? Because they’re both infinitely more sensible topics than suggesting Fatboyslim for the legend slot.

no idea .. the sensible thing would have been to move the crisp topic to the discussion part of the forum  in my opinion but in no way does it relate to Glastonbury .... Fatboy slim is a Glastonbury legend

So is beans on toast isn’t he? But he’s no more doing the legend slot than Fatboy Slim.

Its not the Glastonbury legend slot, it’s the Sunday light entertainment slot.

Didn't spot the 'talk of crisps not being allowed' either, but there was something about crisps being confiscated at the gates last year so it is a genuine topic (though based on a non-genuine policy that was only temporarily being enforced incorrectly by some of security)

Tend to agree that FBS needs to be in the dark, later the better really.  Sunday Teatime?  Nah - legend or not.

On the Stevie Nicks rumour, I recall many on here saying it needs to be 1hr 15 of sing and dance along hits.  Do we think her back catalogue of solo stuff ticks the right box?  She's legendary, no doubt, but the folksy/ballad type stuff she tends toward on her solo releases doesn't seem quite right does it?
