Seems you can't stand me.

Would be a shame to put you on ignore as I quite like your user name.

I can’t stand the endless stream of negativity you bring. The ceaseless moaning about the music, the clientele, the crowds and pretty much everything else the festival does.

You come across as someone who hates Glastonbury. Which on a Glastonbury forum isn’t a great look.

It's not a hate of Glastonbury, anyone who hates it and is still going after 24 visits would be a tad wierd.

I've had plenty of great Glastonburys, I've a few good ones and several okay ones. With the exception of 1990, this year was probably my least enjoyable, which has probably tainted my view.

It may well be the case that people on this forum view me as a lone moaner, I spoke to several of my old friends who have been going since the 80's and without fail they all agree that this was a poor year. The concenus is that it was overcrowed and the atmosphere was poor and relatively unfriendly. I even got the same opinion from a 14 year old who has been to Glastonbury for every year of her life (if it's been on).

I moan because I'm concerned as to where this event is headed.

Mate you seem to think that Chic headlining would be the correct direction.

All of your complaints are subjective, one person’s bad weekend is someone else’s great weekend. You act like the sole arbiter of good taste, you slate every single act mentioned and gate keep around this weird vision of a festival that hasn’t existed anywhere except in your own head for about 30 years.

You complain relentlessly about everything, and quite frankly it’s fucking boring.

Oh well I tried to give a reasonable explainatio as to why I've been moaning about Glastonbury 2022.

Long-term friends of mine who have more knowledge of and connection to the festival than you'll ever have agree with my observations.

Your following me around this forum is also boring.

And yet my group thought this was by far the best festival we’ve ever been to. I’ve been going since 2013.

Maybe something else is at play here? Maybe you are growing out of it?

There's plenty of older people than me coming for the first time and loving it.

I think it's more likely that I've seen it all so many times that I'd don't even see it anymore, if you know what I mean.

Occasionally an artist or band will "blow my mind" and it can be worth it for that.

There's also the SE corner/Unddle Ground/Craft field "family" many of whom I only see once a year at Glastonbury, I don't even know where a lot of them live the rest of the year. On some levels the build up is the best part.

It's about so much more than the entertainment and the punters.

I hear this. Was speaking to one of our crew who has been coming since late 80s early 90's  said she nearly gave up a few years back as it wasn't doing it fir her. However, it all clicked back into place one year and now enjoying as much as ever.

I certainly love it as much as ever but kind of had a dip some years ago. Think I lost touch with the music side for a while. I didn't listen to so much due to family stuff. However that is now off the scale and far to many bands/DJs to see. Thus place has helped there

Also understand about meeting up with people you never see outside the festival or rarely and a chance to reconnect. I do love that early part if the festival (go down Sunday or Monday) where we hang together. Plus just meeting all the other crew and Artist (T&C)

Will have my ashes spread there I reckon.

Each year is special,  but some more than others.

Open up and some of it may embrace you again  otherwise plenty of the things you like there. Many festivals in one.

Have to meet up next year  swap muddy 85 memories.

Yea why not.

Old friends of mine still occasionally rib me about something I said in the mid 90s. It was something along the lines of " This is my last Glastonbury, it's becoming far too mainstream".

I'm thinking of starting a "Glastonbury 85" thread. It was my first one.

I’ve not been going since the 90’s so I can’t talk about that, but amongst my friends, a mix of crew and customers, the consensus was that it seemed crowded at times but the atmosphere was electric. It wasn’t perfect but it was bloody good to be back there. Things will go wrong when it’s not run for so long - it’s just a given.

Best year ever? I don’t think so. The only one where I’ve got emotional just for being there though.

True, plenty that just wasn't quite on-it this year, almost like some had forgotten how to do it.

It was great to back, and then all of a sudden it wasn't.

Nah. This rules them out for next year.

Agreed, Spice Girls being on the bill and not in the legend slot would raise a few eyebrows. It would also damage Roxy Music as people would compare the reception to the two.

They aren’t there. I’m surprised Mel C also can’t be trusted, as it was Mel C this time spinning that they were a possibility.

My guess - Posh backed out and they don’t think it’s worth it.
