giantkatestacks
Yeah we moved from Oxfam to litterpicking oh so many years ago and haven't looked back really. I just couldn't cope with the dead overnight shifts. I like to be done by 11-12midday and be free of it. Plus better camping facilities I think. I think my son might enjoy the Shelter work - might look into that for him.
Funkyfairy!
Had an epic time bin painting again, totally reset my soul ... its a huge commitment in terms of time, but for me worth every minute, every ache and pain, every cold night and every bruise 🙂 Not sure is this Guardian article from just before the festival has been posted on the forum but this just about sums up our time on site ‘What more fun can you have in a field?’: the bin painters of Glastonbury | Glastonbury 2022 | The Guardian

Jensescapade
It's interesting to hear the different experiences. Sorry to hear not everyone had a good time. We were on D pattern with Oxfam, and luckily had Mary's Gate for all 3 shifts. I think splitting the shifts up for the further out gates is a good idea and it definitely should be forwarded as feedback. The Oxfam team plus the security and traffic stewards were all very friendly and chatty. The night shift was steady, and dealing with questionable village tickets kept us on our toes. We will be trying for volunteering next year over normal admission mainly because we loved the 2 days pre gates opening and the camp site perks. We would love to do recycling crew and have enquired in the past, but know thats difficult to get so will be looking at Oxfam again.
