I always find setlists a fascinating construct. For an act I like, but don't necessarily devote long-form pleasures to, a static set does the job for me.
But for an artist I adore, I would appreciate significantly more variety. Iron Maiden going particularly off-piste with their most recent run was a nice pleasure, even if - again - the set was static for the full tour itself.
If there had been something closer to the middle of the UK, I'd have been chasing it for certain. They're the kind of band who seem delighted to get the chance to dust off some of those older ones, but also feel pretty cautious in further alienating a festival audience by straying too far from the path.
Next year's shows will come with at least two or three new songs included if the album is incoming, and five or six at a minimum if they've released it by then.
