Thanks, the nearest one is 20 miles away which isn't too bad but a long way to go if they don't!

I've sworn by this one over the last 5 years - https://www.decathlon.ie/2-3-man-tents/142656-36737-camping-tent-arpenaz-freshblack-3-person.html

If that's what you're after, an awning or tarp is a great little add-on too - https://www.decathlon.ie/tarps/334065-149115-camping-awning-arpenaz-fresh-6-people.html#/481-demodelsize-254no_size/60805-demodelcolor-8648418

But if you've got the cash to spend, this one is well worth the investment -

Thanks, the one I've got my eye on is the 3 man pole one as it has a porch which is very handy.  https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/3-person-blackout-poled-tent-mh100xl-fresh-black/_/R-p-331796?mc=8641758

I haven't watched the video in full, but I do like the fact that it has windows so you can make it light if you want.  I don't think I can justify the size or £200 though when I already have about 8 tents!

How do you keep your van cool. I've got two sunroofs plus a special catch for the back door so it can be open and locked.

Tints, thermal window screens and black out for the windscreen, a hook for rear door too and a USB rechargeable fan.

I'll possibly have a f&b too as I do own one and so does my son!

Are they tricky then?   I thought they were fairly straightforward domed with a few poles or pop up?

The one I have seems to be a bit hit or miss in terms of ease of use on the reviews!

Two of our crew have the older version of that and it's absolutely perfect - you'll be delighted with it!

There’ll be people near you who would help put it up I’m sure? We helped a solo camper put his tent up in 2019.

Honestly, it hadn't even occurred to me that it would be ok to ask for help.

As someone who goes & works the festival solo, I had it explained to me before I joined the team that there were not really any other solos so I'd have to be ok with being self-reliant & doing my own thing. I think I probably took that a bit more to heart than it was intended!

You can be self-reliant but still need a little help on occasion.  I think the advice you were given was really trying to say "don't expect someone to look after you 24/7".

If the nearest one is a retail park / big box type store then you should be fairly safe. If it's one of those new fangled city / shopping centre stores where they're constrained for space then your mileage may vary.

Oh I hadn't realised that, it's a retail park (I've just checked) and it's not a difficult journey so I'll take the risk sometime soonish I think.  Thanks

Starting to worry I’m going to walk back to my F&B tent this year and find someone else asleep in it given the numbers 🤣

In worthy view we brought some Caribbean flag bunting to differentiate our tent from all the other identical scout tents 🙂
