For the best part of a decade I've been in the far end of the CV fields, so you go out for the day and prepare for whatever - take your cold drinks, layers for later, plus waterproof layer too.  If I take any layers off or buy anything extra, then I've got somewhere to shove it that I don't need to think about.  Can even clip a small lightweight fishing stool on the side too.  

Oh yeah and nearly 30 years and I hardly know where the lock ups are, let alone whether I want to go find one to get a jumper later 🙂

I like to have all bases covered. Plus, it's useful incase I buy anything. Anyway, I'm very happy with it!

Handsfree festivaling is the way forward!  Bought this beauty at some rando stall.  Not a bumbag/fannypack but a festival belt!  It has 4 large ish pockets, one small pocket a hidden back pocket that runs the length - perfect for a large phone & card wallet.  What I can't fit in hangs off carabiners, trusty water bottle that I literally don't leave the house without hangs off the side, I then tuck into pocket ouf swinging around too much.  I can fit in & off this: phone, wallet, van & house key, tissues, at least 3 boxes cigs, lighter, spare lighter, lip balm, partners inhaler, prescription meds, mini torch, water bottle.  Handwash goes in pocket as will any random drinks I feel like carrying about.  Peoples Rainware Poncho slung across body (packs down really small) if weather is inclement - jobs a goodun 😉😉

I will however have to beg & borrow sunscreen/mozzi spray if I stupidly forget to apply before leaving van, Latitude, always at Latitude!

I used to have a mini rucksack back in the 90s rave days but anything on my back now feels like I'm "holding" it - in fact I think I actually do hold it, like it's a goddamn parachute or something!

I always think that I am basically hiking all day with a few stops along the way for food, drinks and music. So for me it's very practical and I feel weird if I don't have a rucksack on my back each day.

This is us. I like to have anything I think I’ll need to hand and don’t mind carrying it all. Mrs B will sometimes take the bag for a bit if I’m struggling with it for any reason, for example the year we took a knock off Kanken that cut my shoulders to ribbons.

The bag gets lighter and lighter as the day goes on anyway.

This sounds like a great idea if you don't have to fit it all in the tiny pockets you get on women's clothes. I could probably get my credit card in 1 pocket and my phone half hanging out the other!

I’m a bumbag on the shoulder w*nker at festivals now. You honestly don’t feel the weight of your necessities and it feels secure as hell. No way I’m carrying a backpack for 15 hours, my shoulders would be screaming.

To try to be helpful rather than dick waving about the perceived issues with bags or not - on occasion when carrying a DLSR and lenses etc I use a canvas messenger bag. It is pretty waterproof, three compartments that will take 2 DLSR and a couple of lenses, a few tinnies and any other crap needed. It is expandable by undoing a zip and will also take a light jacket or top. It is easy to move in crowds, sling behind your back if in the pit, or keep out of the way.
