The current weather and ground conditions in Pilton are :
*  HFH records 17.7 degrees at 0824. with humidity at 86%. Consequent tent conditions - you are no longer sleeping in your tent. The slice of pizza stuck to your face is evidence of last nights carnage.

* RAM jam jar is currently dry. Todays duckometer reading is 0.0 mm, no rain for the last 7 days. Duck’s drag worked, he’s pulled.

* Diver is saying what you all think.

* Current wind condition - still.  Miss Pat is currently reading Marys gate. Practically ginners. 0 okta.

*  Stickless. Ground condition is Walkers salt n vinegar.

* Arlo has been having a history lesson and has learnt about clip art.

These are making my mornings brighter each day. Between this and the weather thread roller coaster the excitement keeps building. 😀

it is notable that the Whitelake river is so low at the East end of the site where it crosses Cockmill Lane that I can walk across the ford without getting wet feet.  Never managed that before. it is drier than a dry thing in dry town on dry Tuesday.

So as a local and knowing the conditions better than most, if you do get a downpour on Saturday/Sunday what do you think the impact would be? I guess it won't do too much damage to the site now as its so dry

(aside from the fact I think the weather thread is all balls and sensationalist tripe) I tend to go with the BBC forecast for Pilton which is usually accurate, we may get some light rain, we may not.  The site is dry dry dry, they are spraying the tracks to keep the dust down but it has limited short term effect. Any rain will be likely to make the top damp and will soon feck off. I dug a hole yesterday in the garden and the soil was dry granules for 18 inches down.

The 2016 downpour was exceptional, I don't expect any downpours this weekend. That doesn't stop drama queening alles uber the platz.  Whatever happens there will be weather.  The sentiment has to be as always, deal with it.

Hope there’s enough water for the Renee/ronata/kennyrogers/dolly boat to float under Bellas bridge. Always good for a laugh.

So definitely mallet bringing weather, worth packing the special hard ground pegs?

From memory, weather like atm will have made the ground hard, probably cracked and a challenge for tent pegs. This means any rain often dries quickly and mud is reduced even with the footfall, however it does tend to pool due to the dry clay beneath and if its torrential for any quick period, it quickly runs off downhill forming rivers through the campsites like in 2005 - mega dry and hot up until wed night then mega downpour for several hours which opened up streams, created pools in the markets and famously exposed the blocked culvert in Pennards... But then it dried up and was pretty much normal by mid sat iirc.

Lucky GF have invested hard in lots of drainage and stone covering in order to prevent the pools etc. Let’s see what happens.

Quite so, however its needs regular checking and maint else it silts up and gets less effective, but yes after 2005 a lot was done to mitigate a reoccurance of those particular conditions. I was working for Oxfam up in Tom's that year and their dining marquee had a river literally running through it, under the tables, as we sat there...

The current weather and ground conditions in Pilton are :
*  HFH records 25.3 degrees at 0946 with humidity at 80%. Consequent tent conditions - pass the Hawaiian Tropic I’m going in.

* RAM jam jar is currently dry. Slightly worried it might explode in the temperatures this afternoon. Todays duckometer reading is 0.0 mm, no rain for the last 8 days. Duckie currently worried about Monkeypox.

* Diver is taking his own advice, albeit in a slightly extreme fashion.

* early crowd gathering for the forever rumoured Daft Punk set.

* Current wind condition - slight breeze.  Miss Pat is currently reading Bristol Airport and has gone stealth. Blue with possible chem trail for the conspiracy theorists (what happened to that nutter?) 0 okta.

*  The Twig ( formerly known as sticky stick) is now up for auction. Bids being taken online. Jurassic Well progressing. Ground condition is Hardtack.

* Great care has been taken to produce today’s weather picture. There may have even been science involved.
