Searches at the gate

Looks like it will take longer to get in this year.. added security checks and separate longer queues for those with excess bags, trolleys etc.

I'm pretty sure that's just the usual routine rather than extra this year.  The only year they did extra was 2017 and that was in response to the Arena bombing.  They handled it well that year, we rocked up mid afternoon and were straight through the gate, queue having already subsided hours earlier.

I can only speak for my experiences with Gate C, as thats all I've ever used in the last 18 or so times I've been, but there has always been seaprate Qs - first entry, which is anyone without a band, no matter what they are carrying, then re-entry with no 'wide loads' and finally re-entry with 'wide loads' eg someone coming back from the carpark with their stuff, or people with prams etc.

 

Obviously, when it's busy, all these are one Q from outside the gate, but they do filter once the gate staff do their stuff when people are in range.

There was definitely a different gate to go through if you didn't fit in the turn styles, maybe it's that?

Was barely searched in 2017 so I doubt thats changed much. People still get flares in and even glass so its not perfect.
