Primavera Sound Barcelona 2023 + Primavera Sound Madrid 2023

I'm surprised I've seen nothing mentioned here about Scaring the Hoes (JPEGMAFIA for anyone who doesn't know him). The album is incredible imo and while his material is usually critically acclaimed this time it's doing well in terms of numbers as well.

I intended to catch his set regardless but he's now become a must see for me. It's a real shame Danny Brown has checked himself into Rehab as he could've been a brilliant late addition to do a combined set.

Looks like SZA's added tour dates means she could do the Saturday. Possible FKA Twigs replacement?

Looks like an arena tour to me and can’t see her flying in and out of Spain twice for this.

Probably in a small minority but see Sevdaliza as an absolutely acceptable replacement for Twigs. Better set of songs if anything, similar style, also (I gather) an amazing live performer and we had Twigs recently.

True but she does play every 2 days apart from the 1st to the 5th and there are no Spanish dates. No other festivals as you alluded to but given the FKA Twigs dropout and the rumours of bad sales, it wouldn't shock me if they've got her.

She could definitely do the Saturday for both.

I saw her last year and she was brilliant. From slow arty pieces at the beginning to dance bangers at the end (with an unexpected twist in the middle) - it was a stunning performance. I'm sure it will be one of the highlights of otherwise weirdly weak Primavera day.

No way they got SZA as a bonus. They just announced new order. She is just too big right now, coachella headliner size

She would also be more of a ticket seller for international people. And internationals have surely already decided by now if they are coming (and if they are still on the fence, the hotel and flight prices would put them off).

I think we can be confident that they've closed the big names with New Order who were probably booked ages ago.

Does seem as though Madrid is going to be plenty of space for all in its first year. Wonder if they will book two different line ups next year or find a different venue...

However, I don't get why the team of an artist so popular and critically acclaimed , with available dates, chose a random festival like that one in Poland and not the more respected and trend-setting Primavera Sound or Glastronbury for a European appearance.

Open'er have had some good bookings.

There was one year they got Prince. And he didn't play Glastonbury or PS then either (in fact never played either).

Why people keep saying this? For someone that is a best day of any Festival this year.

I'm for instance huge Rosalia and Maneskin fan. Love commercial bangers so would have fan on Harris. Into edm and already familiar with Charlotte De Witte. Also I know some of the work from Sevdaliza and Caroline Polachek they look very interesting to me just like St. Vincent. I'm sure there are more good stuff under names I didn't mention.

I personally can't remember any other Primavera day without a single must see concert... until now. I mean, they somehow managed to put together a festival, where day 1 is insanely stacked (6 must sees + around 12 other names i'd love to see) and on day 3 I'm not able to find a single must see artist (and barely 10 concerts I'd like to see).

And I'm fully aware that this is totally subjective but I've been attending Primavera since 2017 and my personal music tastes have never been more neglected than on this year's Saturday.

However, there are always artists I'm not very excited about before the festival and after seeing them I have to admit I should have been much more excited (like Hannah Diamond or Dreamcatcher last year). So there's still a chance that Saturday will be amazing.
