There is a logic actually in them announcing a biggish name but for Madrid only.

Have heard it’s sold really poorly and I’m sure they don’t want it to be embarrassingly so.

I wonder if they may add Aphex Twin to Madrid too, he can’t do Barcelona because of Sonar but I could see him being a last minute addition to boost sales

Primavera should give us some information about the ciutat-concerts: Which band will play in which venue? And when will the tickets for these shows be available? Will it be a lottery? And how will they console me if I miss Arab Strap?

I think they said tickets will go on sale for a nominal fee about one or two weeks before. Will be first come, first served. The fee can be redeemed against drinks.

I think you’ll be fine for Arab Strap as they are playing on Monday before most international people arrive and they’re not particularly popular with the local crowd.

Have never understood the logic of having virtually the same line up in 2 cities that are 2 and a half hours to 3 hours away by train.

It works out cheaper for the organisers to book more than one show per band and can evidently be successful if there’s enough demand eg Reading/Leeds, Austin City Limits and Coachella.
 

Madrid is far better connected to the rest of Spain than Barcelona and has a massively bigger population. Plus it may have been easy for Madrid locals to get to Barcelona but would be expensive to pay for a hotel versus sleeping in your own bed.

Don’t think it was unreasonable to think it could have done well and it is differentiated from Madrid’s other big one, Mad Cool.

Regarding Fred Again, Skrillex and Four Tet. I’ve seen that this topic was discussed in the group already, but is there any chance they would perform together like in Coachella? I know their names appear separately in the poster and in the site, but why put them to play in the same day both in Madrid and Barcelona? And then Porto only has Fred Again. The best scenario would be to have them do a b2b with each other and then have separate concerts at different times.

Agreed, the thing is that at their set at Coachella, Skrillex said “this is the last show of 2023”, I don’t know how serious he was but probably they are going to be acting separately, and I didn’t see people discussing that in the group.

It was the last concert at Coachella, so you read too much into that I believe

Really hope so.

It’s my first time at Primavera, so idk how it works with the stages, but I heard there is a Boiler Room, so getting one of them (or all) could be a possibility for the Boiler Room?

Boiler room is waaaaaay to small for them. They will most likely play on one of the main stages

They're too big for anywhere apart from the main stages imo (although without the BITS area the stage setup might be a lot different). They'll probably close out the main stage on the Friday.

I believe they will do a b2b2b set on the main stage to close the fest, it´s gonna be fun, but... for me, the Fred Again.. live set is the must see. Saw him a month ago and it was fantastic, i can´t belvieve what he does with those MPCs!

Yeah I find Fred Again sets more interesting and consistent, I feel like having 3 guys like them DJing is too much, and now after Coachella set it’s going to be super super crowded, they need a bit stage.
