She did like 20 dates in Spain last year to present Motomami. I'd go to Death Grips btw

I meant Barcelona specifically but you're right, she did play in 2022. I'm 50/50 on it but it's more FOMO that Rosalia set will be really good. I'm sure Death Grips will...

She did 12 shows and virtually every review was ovewhelmingly positive. The show looked great too when she started the festival tour this year and she's playing a homecoming gig.

Maybe we can help each other through this. I am in the exact same dilemma. Death Grips will be sonically outstanding and something I rarely get to see come through Barcelona. BUT, I was out of town during Rosalia's tour last year and this is her homecoming show. Is 40 mins of each realistic? It'd be about a 10 minute fast walk from Ron Brugal to Mordor.

Personally with direct clashes I would pick one, not try and see half of each and choose the act that would be hardest to see again in future.

100% this. With the time lost running between stages to catch acts, you miss half of both.

And you don't enjoy the first act watching the time to leave, and you arrive late and spend half of the second act trying to get into a good spot.

It's something I'd never do unless I'm just kind of pottering around the festival. But this one has got me thinking. Realistically I'll be exhausted and not ready to run across the site. I think it'll be a Death Grips set for me and I'll catch Rosalia on the next album cycle. A million miles back at Mordor won't be the experience I want anyway.

act 1 start to finish—> act2 final 2/3 or final half

only case I wouldn’t see an act from start to finish. In this case not doable imo

I think by that time on the final day running across to Mordor probably won't be doable for me either haha! I also think arriving half way through at a smaller stage might be fine but at Mordor especially for Rosalia you would arrive at the very back of a packed crowd miles away.

I'm leaning 60/40 towards Death Grips after watching some clips of a very recent set. What might sway me in the end is what that Ron Brugal stage is like.

(Translated):

Aperol Island of Joy

With the best views of the sunset and inspired by the aperitif moment in the purest Italian style, the Aperol Island of Joy will have a main stage, a bar area and a rest area ; so that everyone passing through the island can recharge their batteries while enjoying a good Aperol Spritz in the sun.

From Thursday June 1 to Saturday June 3, a wide variety of groups will perform on the Aperol Island of Joy stage from 6:45 PM to 11:00 PM. Among other invited artists and groups, the following stand out: Comic Sans, Julia Amor, Magia Bruta, TMATNB, Yudi, Selva Nua, Galgo Lento, Enri-K, Mariallüisa, Amore, Ganges, Morreo, Mira Paula, Ciutat, Antonim.

Now that All Points East has largely gone all Maroon 5, there’s a gap in the market in London for a quality large semi-alternative festival.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see them have another go at London next year.

the London festival bubble is already crowded as it is, even though APE is crap now I think there's better places for Primavera to go (or simply not at all)

I hear you but I note they tried to host an edition in London before the pandemic and also ran an event there last month.

Think they still see it as somewhere highly strategic.

Event was a single gig so not really the same scale. Their best niche is to stick to markets that arent oversaturated. Primavera London would bomb hard imo.

I’m not in favour of Primavera in London. Just saying they are clearly expanding and we know they were looking to run an edition there.

According to Pollstar – which first reported on plans for Primavera London in July – festival promoter Primavera Sound SL has “wanted a presence in the UK for some time”, with London as their preferred location.”

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me if this mindset has changed following the pandemic, you only have to look at poor sales at London festivals to realise it's a hard market to crack. I think their more international ventures into South America are more popular as they can get artists who are considering it roped it as their only SA gigs. London it's much more difficult to do that given all the competitors and also the option of just doing a normal London gig.
