Glad to hear they stepped it up from last year on the organisation front, and that they had more than 3 water taps total. Still not sure it'll get me back on board with hotel prices what they are, big shame, but if next year's lineup is unmissable... well, we won't miss it.

Hotel prices rose partly due to the F1 happening on the same weekend, hopefully will not be that high

Last year the Ciudad gigs were a bit of a shambles in terms of queues, people not being let in with tickets etc

If I've got a ticket for a Ciudad gig on Access Ticket this week in Madrid, I should be fine to turn up at any time and get in right? (i.e. half an hour before the main act are on) They're not letting in people without tickets this year so it should work as normal concerts do?

Yes, you can come anytime. I attended only Japanese Breakfast yesterday and I was in without any waiting.

My top 10 (in chronological order):

Confidence Man

Pet Shop Boys

Ghost

Perfume (at almost empty Cupra)

Blur

Nation of Language

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

Caroline Polachek

Purple Disco Machine

Japanese Breakfast

Love this! And was lying in bed thinking about what my top 10 would be last night too so I'll do the same. Will put mine in order of preference:

10. Overmono

9. Nia Archives

8. Death Grips

7. Liturgy

6. Channel Tres

5. Skrillex

4. Loyle Carner

3. Gabriels

2. Turnstile

1. Kendrick

Biggest takeaway from this list is I need to see more non-male acts next year.

Sparks have got to be one of my favourite acts of the weekend! Blur, alvvays and st vincent also up there! Gutted to have missed death grips as I had to get an early flight 😕 Amazing festival overall!!!

Sound bleed was horrendous I could hear Cupra from Ron brutal - the crowd was shouting at the wedding present to turn the vocals up.

Agree with the comment about halsey fake edgelord thing being annoying (not the lgbt one though - many artists often say this and don’t think you should take it so seriously). I remember she was constantly talking about how she was going to show the haters/telling the crowd to f**k off because THIS is rock music/name dropping she worked with Trent reznor. Was ready to give her the benefit of the doubt as listen to some of her last album in the gym but she was insufferable.

I still don't get the hate against Maneskin? Not the best or the most innovative band ever but I don't get it

Hate is a strong word but they are bland rock-by-numbers, cringy lyrics (google Lyrics Kool Kids for an example) and a better fit for Benicassim and Mad Cool.

10. Boris

9. Built to Spill

8. Alvvays

7. My Morning Jacket

6. Turnstile

5. Unwound

4. Rosalia

3. The War on Drugs

2. Liturgy

1. Amenra

Every year I consider going to some other festival like Arctangent or Roadburn instead as their lineups seems a better fit for my taste. But in the end it always makes more sense to attend Primavera for the diversity and Barcelona will always beat camping in a British field. Surprised The Walkmen were not added to the lineup, now I have to go to Copenhagen on Saturday to see them and also catch the War on Drugs again.

Love that all you guys were at liturgy ahah! we weren’t so many

10 Alex g

9 comet is coming

8 John cale

7 depeche mode

6 Wednesday

5 turnstile

4 Rosalia
3 Kendrick

(2.2 Maybe it’s cheating but I saw swans just a couple of days before so it’s a part of the experience in my head)
2 unwound
1 liturgy

Unexpectedly I didn’t enjoy new order. I also saw better rock acts than blur, for my taste (didn’t like the set list that much). Anyway, perfect edition.
only regret is I saw too much stuff. Found myself rushing my friends with no mercy from one act to the other. I think I am becoming addicted to this, need to chill out a bit more next year otherwise I’ll lose my people lol

I also thought i would like New Order More, but I found that pretty boring, unfortunately. Sudan Archives were also a bit underwhelming. Gutted I missed Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and My Morning Jacket, but you can only see so much. Loved it mucho, again, all in all.

10 - Depeche Mode second half, aka the hits section. Good crowd and quite easy to get close to the stage.
9 - Caroline Polacheck
8 - Rosalia for the "homecoming show" factor
7 - Unwound on Sunday, caught a flower at the end
6 - Gilla Band, on Sunday got to speak for a couple minutes with the singer post-show
5 - Fred Again.., most fun crowd
4 - Anish Kumar (DJ), a proper disco party at 8pm
3 - Japanese Breakfast for the beautiful smile and positive energy
2 - Karate below the solar panel, small crowd but true fans, the most welcomed obscure reunion this year. And best joke of the weekend hear from the 3 bald men on the stage : "Seen Shellac? How come they still all have their hair? We got started the same year.
1 - Bad Religion, had been waiting for 25 years to see them, i did not stop raging for a second and the people around me were the same. Greg Graffin now looks like Bret Easton Ellis haha

Could have mentioned Blur but it was nothing new to me, New Order didn't play my favorite song in the world (Ceremony), and Joe Crepusculo on Sunday night was terribly fun (I got a highfive from him for my dancing. Ty ty). I've hated Skrillex's music since his very first record and I found myself having great fun during his entire set!

Acts I regret not seeing: Liturgy, John Cale, Laurie Anderson, The Comet is Coming, Boris, The Soft Pink Truth, Death Grips.

My final stats: 65 artists seen in 7 days, with 32 shows seen in full.

My top 10 shows in chronological order;

Ghost, Le Tigre, Blur, The Comet is Coming, Depeche Mode, Kendrick, Unwound, Wednesday, Be Your Own PET, Litvrgy.

Regrets... I kind of wish that I had opted for Amenra over New Order now.

The lack of anything decent on Cupra was very strange - they need to bring Idles back next year to blow the doors off it again.

Praise be to the music gods that we get another cracking line up next year! Just maybe with a little less Reading & Leeds dross (Halsey, Maneskin, Calvin).
