My concern is that all the auditori tickets will go on sale at same time as the Ciutat shows and stuff you want to see will be sold out unless you are rapid.

I mean, with so much ticketed shows some people will be making a dozen separate reservations…

You mean for Madrid? For Barcelona, there were not tickets in 2022, so I guess that 2023 will be first in, first served, no?

Alfonso has not mentioned the Auditori would also have tickets, right?

I can appreciate a feel-good concert - an artist with catchy songs, dancey melodies and lyrics that beg you to singalong. Nothing too profound, just simple fun. In 2022, it was Dua Lipa. In 2023, it looks like it's going to be, surprisingly, Ghost.

I have to admit, at first I found it quite annoying that Madrid is getting The Mars Volta and Barcelona just some metal (definitely not my genre) band I'd never heard of before. But Primavera broadened my musical horizons once again and Ghost gradually became a must-see.

Thursday is now the strongest day of the whole festival for me (Thursday > Friday > Saturday).

where do I start with them?

I'm not familiar with their whole discography (yet), I just added the songs they play on their concerts into my Primavera playlist, expecting to remove them on the next playlist revision. And quite the opposite, I happened to like them, even love some of them.

SPOILER ALERT (about songs in their current live sets)

My current TOP 10 would be Spillways, Mary On a Cross, Square Hammer, He Is, Hunter's Moon, Miasma, Kaisarion, Rats, Ritual, Dance Macabre.

TBF Aphex Twin did play four editions ago.

And Best Kept Secret has no Kendrick, no Blur, no Depeche Mode, no Turnstile, no Rosalia,  no Darkside, no Four Tet, no FKA Twigs, no St Vincent, no Sparks, no PSB, no Le Tigre

+ nowhere remotely as close to the strength in depth...

True but this is not the point,  PS has accustomed us to quality bookings like AFX and not commercialized ones like Calvin Harris ... I think you understand

These names are great, I can't wait to see DM, Sparks, Le tigre, etc. But the big mistake for me is Calvin Harris on the top, when you have a Chemical Brothers around, for example.

But, this is my taste, personal and artistic. They know better than me how to sell 150k tickets in two weekends.

Talking about the undercard, we are missing good names like Kevin Morby, Kurt Vile, Sorry, UMO, Charlotte & Bolis...

still the 2nd richest line up we ever had from them imo but you have to reckon missing afx, who plays in a festival they usually share headliners with, happening the weekend later is quite weird. Unless it's a surprise booking if the sales don't work but, otherwise, why should they

Aphex Twin has played 17 concerts globally in 9 years.

And two of those were Primavera Sound. Not too shabby...

Maybe he just wasn't up for committing to the Mirror thing and would have played Barcelona-only.

Obviously agree Harris is a rubbish booking but there'll be some great stuff when he's on. at least.

Anybody have any info on this selling particularly badly? Just been watching a Anthony Fantano/needledrop video and he did a bit of promo for the festival which I assume the festival has paid for and I thought it was interesting that the festival has felt the need to do this, especially considering last years double weekend almost instant sell out.

I won’t be going this year but I thought I’d be an outlier, but I wonder if a combination of last year kind of losing its classic Primavera vibe and this years lineup perhaps not being the strongest/a bit all over the place has turned people off.

Sorry if this has already been covered at length - not been following this thread for obvious reasons.

No indication so far about poor sales, at least as far as I know. I wouldn't be surprised if Madrid is an especially tough sell and the things you mentioned certainly don't help.

They have to do their communication campaigns if they don't sell out, and influencer marketing is a new normal. It shouldn't be a sign per se

Having said that, I think Madrid is not doing well. Barcelona I don't know; but I'm a local and only another person I know will attend. 10 years ago we were dozens. Even in 22 I had many friends and acquaintances attending.

Add the bad 22 experience, the line up is not what used to be, they particularly stretched the ticket prices and a weak pound. This is a receipt for low sales. But, honestly, not only I don't care, I hope for it if that means a more confortable experience.
