How much do you spend?

There 7 days, budgeting 350-400 for the week , bringing own booze and getting some meal tickets ( Oxfam)

Got food for Wednesday night.
20 cans of cider, 10 cans of pims, 5 litres of lillies cider, litre of rum. My partner doesn't drink much but is bringing 10 cans of cider and a 700cl of vodka. 

We're both budgeting for about £40 each, for each day (minus a bit of drinking and dinner on Wednesday night) 
Will be surprised if we spend more than £350 between us, it genuinely depends on how much you drink as my partner probably wont be buying much.

Ticket price has increased, transport, food, alcohol all more expensive and there’s the shocking increase in the use of rip off glamping sites. 
 

Have people’s budgets increased and how much is too much?

Presumably that’s your on-site spend, excluding tickets and transport

The little star says i've already posted, so this might be a repeat, but Glastonbury is my annual holiday, so I budget accordingly, currently I probably go in at about £500 for ticet and camper pass, then £100 in beer and food to bring, probably spend £150-200 on site too, plus misc spending on keeping my caravan road worth, so £800-ish I guess?

 

I'd easilly go £1000 probably more

This yr we only cooked breakfast the first cple of mornings and took no booze other than a handful of cans for the first afternoon by the tent after setting up. We didn't go mad drinking - but a few ciders throughout the day - and bought all of the rest of our meals. Prob spent £80-100 a day between us, possibly a bit less (i bought some tshirts and other bits).

This year's Glastonbury cost us over £3k between 2 of us, and was a bit of a struggle to be honest, won't be doing that again in a rush, though it was amazing. 

We treated it as our only holiday of the year, rented a big luxury motorhome, spent a couple of nights before in it, the festival, and then kept it for 5 nights after the festival doing a bit of travelling, relaxing and recovering. 

We only actually spent around £400-500 on site, between us. Mostly on drinks, as we had breakfast and sometimes another meal, at the Van. We also bought some nice hand painted tea towels one night, with the festival site painted on. 

Overall, we could have paid less for a 5 star all inclusive holiday in the Caribbean. So never again. 

Next year, we're back under canvas for the festival, and planning a proper holiday later in the year. 🤣

This year around £200 all in. I work for my ticket and on-site van pass. I take all my own food, although this year I only cooked for myself three times (rest was crew food). I don’t drink alcohol, so that was fuel and drugs and the food I bought with me.
 

Made most of it back working in the Tipi field for an old mate

Probably around the £150 for me too. I get fed a decent breakfast and can access 1 more meal if I go back to to the crew tent or I can take a sandwich out with me. 

 

I had weed and a 5 pint bag of strong cider so I just topped up with the occasional burrow hill. Chuck in a bit of food and small gifts for the family.

I still think its by far the cheapest (and best obviously) festival around,. Its five days, you can, if you want,  take you own booze wherever you go for the whole festival, free programme, etc. etc. In theory you dont need any money as you can bring everything with you, including booze. The standard prices are usually in line with other festivals, but then there a ot of cheaper places (meal for £6 offers) throughout the site, and you can always go to cheaper places if you head towards SE corner, Greenfields, Hare Krishna, plenty of bakeries as well, etc)

I took 500 with me buy most meals and hoodie and band tshirt or 2, would say I spent 350-400 while not holding back but making the most of 6 quid meal deals

There are several other festivals where you can do the same re booze, at least one other festival has cheap meal options and the program isn’t free it’s part of the ticket price (crew don’t officially get one, but if you know the right people…)

I think I usually spend around £400 on the years when I’m not working it and don’t have access to crew meals.  I don’t drink loads, 2 or 3 ciders a day maybe.. don’t bring any food with me other than a few cereal bars or pain au chocs for first thing in the morning so that’s all meals from the food stalls.

A little FYI, a lot of stall holders prefer cash where possible, but do accept card (as in today's times you have to!). Craft field is mostly cash I think. It's nice to see a smile on the seller's face when you offer cash 🙂

.. and over five days, which festival? ... And you get a hundred or so stages, and comedy and cabaret and kids area and SE corner stuff, greenfields,  arcadia, and 24-7 entertainment throughout? I don't know a festival which does all of that for that price!

TBF neither do I, but I do a festival that is more fun and several magnitudes more friendly and more loving, with almost 100% no twats.

I would genuinely say try not to stress about money understand what you can reasonably afford a few weeks before and build from there.

 

Add some beers or juice and dry nibbles on the weekly shop occasionally so you have stuff to take if you cant afford to buy it there.

Just don’t expect any big names, they don’t book them, but you will get great acts and an atmosphere second to none (IMO)

Cheaper now for me than it used to be. 

About £400, as a volunteer, all in (includes everything - fuel, booze to take with me, food onsite, trinkets and tees etc). Also have been doing festivals/camping long enough now to have all the equipment I need so rarely need to pre-purchase any of that any more like I used to. As a punter in 2017 it cost me £1000 in total. I'm pretty profligate though.

Tickets, food and drinks at the festival, flights to Bristol, two nights' accomodation before the festival to purchase and freeze some booze, NatEx coach to the festival and back, one night after the fest to have a proper shower before flying back home. Some of you probably don't know how lucky you are to live just a couple of hours by car away.

You’re doing well to get all that for only 1500€
