Still so warm outside. I don't think I've ever known it to be this warm at this time of day in this country.

I popped out for a bottle of vino at half 7. I only live a hundred yards from our Aldi and by the time I got home I was covered in sweat. I am out of shape and obese but the heat outside was relentless. No breeze either.

Ryzen and 3000 series here.  Rendering lightmaps, 3 machines running 100% cpu for hours at a time, peak temps of 86c and the air in the room with the machines doing the work is politely described as 'punishing'.

Thankfully I can see all this from the comfort of remoting into the room and gaming on a more modest i5 and 1070 in a room where the temp is in the mid teens (hooray for blackout blinds and airflow).

Ryzen 5800x and RTX 3070 here 🙂 Air cooled, no throttling whatsoever… (though it is in a corsair 5000D with 12 fans!!!)

But the tiny office is one of the rooms not covered by the air con, and it’s horrendously hot in there… 🙈😂

Thankfully I have a steam deck, so I too can remote play from the air con cooled bedroom 🙂

I can confirm that this is absolutely horrific. The good news is that I don't think I'll need to turn the heating on this winter...

Mate I feel bad for you… The super ‘efficient’ Ryzens are kicking out enough heat as it is!!! Have you seen the LTT video on how the top end 12th Gen is physically impossible to cool, without throttling, using current tech on max turbo? Still, like you said, will be great in winter.  🙂

I have a Dell laptop if that helps.

Up early and am going to attempt a jog and then drag dog out before starts getting silly again.

Saved by the dell

Feels worse today, somehow. All the heat from yesterday still hasn't dissipated from my place so it just feels way more stuffy.

Yeah my flat is way worse than yesterday. I started at 25 degrees & it gradually got warmer through the day. Today it's started at 28 degrees, so I reckon my flat will be 30+ by the end of the day! ☹️

Testing positive for covid on Saturday and then having to suffer through the hottest days on record is most definitely not the one.

That’s grim … how badly has the covid got you … ? I’ve had shivers since sat and a temperature yesterday  it’s hard to work out which is the illness and which is the outside temp causing issues . Hopefully you’ll be recovered soon … and it’s not long till the temperatures drop off now

Anyone else put deodorant on their elbow and knee pits?

Wouldn’t using anti perspirant reduce your body’s natural cooling capacity?

I really couldn’t care how badly I stink today… 2 showers a day at the minute anyway, so it’s not like it’s stale B.O

I'm not sure how much of how unwell I was feeling was purely covid or a mixture of that and the weather to be honest.

Saturday, Sunday and yesterday were grim but feeling much better today.

Did another test this morning and still positive so WFH it is.

Does show the impact of vast amounts of tarmac on heat … or is it just that they have these official monitoring stations at airports or a bit of both … 40 degrees is gonna go for sure … think we might get some welcome relief with thunderstorms later … although we are on the edge of where they dissapear on the way up from Cornwall
