I think the timing of the “Madonna not playing” news last year was timed to avoid a festival full of Madonna fans.

think its whats achieved already ... theyve done loads of environmental stuff at the festival ..... a few off the top of my head .... electric cars , solar panels , wind turbine at carhenge .... biofuel at Arcadia

Plastics, recycling levels, composting toilets, the leave no trace campaign, the entire festival has been fossil fuel free for a couple years now.

 

(And before Skip points it out - yes, Shambala did all that and went further first, but not on the same scale).

yep and these too .... with the size of the place its a really decent achievement and should be celebrated as such ... people so quick to jump in with negative comments on a positive subject

I think given none of the headliners pack a massive 'wow' factor, we may be waiting a while/they may do a couple at once

I can't see any of the 1975/Fred Again/Sam Fender/Olivia Rodrigo etc being met with anything other than a 'meh' on their own on social media

Emily Eavis to send via carrier pigeon (one with white flecs on its wings) a note to the Guardian press office (well the pigeon actually ends up in the break out area but the message gets though) a note. That reads Nova Twins to play Woodsies at 6PM on Friday 27th of June. the pigeon leaves Pilton, stops to poo on a freshly washed Subaru in Newbury (not strictly on route) before arriving at the Guardian on the 4th January 2025. They print the following day. The pigeon is fed some seeds - its a good day.

Am I right in thinking 2024 left it all the way to the first poster drop for any announcement?

Unless if they pull a Rhianna or Stevie Wonder style act out of their hat I can see it being the same next year

Legend slot announced - back to the usual announcement schedule after a weird 2024.

 

Seems in line with majority of festivals around the world this year who seem to be making early lineup announcements.

Nice to get one out of the way, but do have the dispiriting thought that will be that until the new year.

 

Headliner #1 in January, Headliner #2 in February and the rest of the bill in very late March/early April.
