I agree with this. For any younger goers that don't follow the rumours, it isn't the most exciting line up so far.

I reckon mid Feb at the earliest, maybe just the first poster drop in March.

 

Who has been announced really is irrelevant, it's not as though they are announcing stuff to try and shift tickets.

while its irrelevant as you say keeping people talking about the festival all year round is pretty sensible in my opinion , just adds a little to it or theyd not bother with announcements at all

They don't need to balance the scales soon though.

 

Until the balance deadline comes around, the only people really analysing the lineup to any significant degree are the niche audience like us - and we all know that it'll end up more balanced anyway.

 

By the time the general public / the bulk of the ticket holders start paying proper attention ie when they come to pay up, the first poster will likely be out with a whole range of artists on it.

Yes, probably the most we will get in the next few months is some accidental self confirms. The NY thing wasn’t meant to be released.  Rod Stewart was a Christmas announcement just to give us something and get the festival publicity. So it’s back to the usual detective work on here!

I think its highly likely we will see at least 3 or 4 of those 4 at glastonbury

That's assuming that most people make 'the decision' when the balance payment window opens but I expect people decide if they are going to pay way before that based on the rumours and how its shaping up.

 

It's just my guess, but I feel another headliner announcement is on the way within a few weeks.

Has to be Chappell really out of all that are left on the shortlist.

 

Feel like the criteria for selection has changed somewhat for this year compared to previous - Chappell is already massive, headlining Primavera etc. Ezra Collective & English Teacher won the last two Mercury's. Confidence Man have already released 3 albums.

 

It always used to be for artists tipped to breakthrough in that year - this list would've been more accurate 12 months ago.

It was on the festival's Instagram, but given the nature of announcement it obviously wasn't premeditated with a press release etc.

 

I guess the festival is maybe reconsidering their use of Twitter now it's run by a Nazi rat.

Because they still have market share on it. Same as not abandoning Facebook in light of the anti lgbt stuff happening. Their target audience is on those platforms and youre essentially stuck unless something else actually took off.

 

Anyway, its Chappell for Sound of 2025. I mean there is no right time to try and make people think the festival has something cool and new booked in counter of Rod, Chic and Neil Young. if thy were so bother by the NY thing then you couldve had something else ready to announce, but they dont. Funny to think that most of the lineup is already booked but currently maybe giving 3 names before lineup drop is all that they want to even muster when it used to be more. Why not just announce Olivia and leave it be. Let The 1975 just be on the poster so its not some weird thing. She is doing all the festivals anyway.

Announced this morning on Radio 1 that it’s Chappell Roan (unsurprisingly). Think we were expecting to see her at Glastonbury anyway as O-Rod sub but this perhaps makes it even more likely. Yay!
