If you lived in the north of England around 04/05 they were pretty hard to miss. Saw them in Sheffield at the Leadmill, at Birmingham Academy 2 and a couple of times in Manchester before WPSIA came out.

Yeah was great been a Sheffield lad around that time. 2 leadmill gigs, Birdwell Working mens Club, Plug, Secret gig at Citrus Rooms all within a year or so. The NME Tour Octagon was around that time too.

Slight contrast to my situation as someone who got into them around Suck It And See, where the smallest room I've seen them in is Earls Court (unsuccessful attempts to get on the iTunes Roundhouse 2013 and Royal Albert Hall 2018 ballots didn't help).

On that topic I'd have thought there might be some chatter of a small promo show for The Car. But maybe that'll be more of a surprise announcement or something.

Hampden is terrible. Awful sound, poor facilities, not massively accessible.

Curiosity meant I looked into it and the first thing I got was a Tripadvisor review going "A shambles of a place for a concert"... good start.

Feel like stadiums with running tracks are less fun experiences if you're in seats. The back row at a place like that is already a long way away without that pushing you further back. Plus I don't really hear great reviews of Hampden as a place to see football, nevermind this purpose.

Older stadiums are awful for gigs for me. They struggle massively with facilities when the standing crowd are added to the lower tier seats, so the queues are horrible. Old Trafford is the worst I've been to for that. Clearly built for just those in the seats. I don't know why they bother, and they don't there often. Even the Etihad isn't great for it - Wembley is the only one I've been to where its not that bad.

Can only imagine what Villa Park is like considering how old it is.

Bruce Springsteen's booty-shaking, earthquaking E Street Band are likely to take it to the ground.

Arctic Monkeys at Leeds Festival - biggest crowd of the weekend for the major headliner trio, and yet the most indifferent reaction on the whole, I'd have said. Dave's shorter set and the equivalent of a hits performance from The 1975 seemed to play gangbusters, but there was just a whole mid-set gulf for Arctic Monkeys where it was... pretty fidgety.

Exactly. It’s not really good for it’s main purpose, let alone it’s secondary one. If you’re in the seats you’re miles from everything. If you’re standing there’s such an echo off the roof as to make it unlistenable at times.

Stadiums aren’t great for gigs anyway but Hampden is especially bad.

They were dreadful at Leeds.

I bought tickets mainly for BMTH and Wolf Alice but was excited to Arctic’s again after not seeing them since around album 2 but the missus only cared about Arctics none of the undercard but halfway through the set she asked if we could leave as she was so bored.

I made her stay until Ritz but then we left.

I will never bother going to see them again unless they are at another festival I’m attending and there is no one else on I want to see.

Alex Turner should read this over and over again until it sinks in they need to up their game.

Have been told that apparently it's being announced next week and in Coventry at least it's April. I'm very wary about the information especially with them saying it's in April, we'll find out soon I suppose

Next week makes mores sense though given it's Payday for a lot of people.

Coventry's last home game is April 29th, so would be very surprised if they were playing in April.
