RW18 is one of those posters I show my friends and they think I'm making it up. Absolutely bonkers that a lineup is so strong you have NIN subbing the second stage.

I have this often with going to festivals abroad, most of my group prefer UK based ones as they can’t be bothered with the travel and it’s really vexing when things like Werchter exist. I still maintain that in all the years I’ve been RW14 was the best for my tastes, and I have the same thing that people don’t believe a festival like that could exist. If I could go to a festival with Metallica, AM, KOL, Pearl Jam, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Foals, The Black Keys, Biffy Clyro, Haim, Placebo, Skrillex, Paolo Nutini, White Lies, Pixies, Robert Plant and Damon Albarn (amongst many many others) these days I would think someone was making things up as well

I remember seeing the line-up for Werchter in 2014 and being incredibly jealous tbf. I saw that line-up on Clashfinder anew as I vaguely recalled being impressed by it and thought it looked great. Though much as 2018's was also pretty good overall, they did share quite a few names tbf.

So by that logic how many of those names above can we expect back for '23? Ha

Stromae is not on the poster. Depeche Mode don't play Graspop and would never be below Muse. It's impossible to image such a metal day on Friday: RATM + SOAD + BMTH KoRn + Architects + Gojira... too many big acts and too many metal bands. The design is also horrible and far away from what RW usually does. Just a bad fake tbh!

Thought it was more then a bit crazy 😀

Not that we need another take to discredit this one but Depeche Mode have an Antwerp Sports Paleis gig and a July 1st gig in Frankfurt (this being the date implied on the poster). So I think they're out of this one in general.

Damn. Just see I wrote Graspop instead of Rock Werchter. My bad! Anyway, this flyer has so much things to discredit it indeed!

Bored at work, my very non-scientific count for the last 20 years only was something like:

6: Pearl Jam, Metallica, Muse

5: Rammstein, Kings of Leon

4: Chemical Brothers, Coldplay, RHCP

3: The Cure, Florence, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Editors, REM, Green Day

Probably wrong on a few, just eyed it up

I counted 4 for Muse - 2007, 2010, 2015 and 2019. But I guess it depends how 2013 is classed, given that was to all intents their own show with their big power station stage but was the Werchter Boutique date. 2004 and 2006 were subs looking at line-up posters.

Metallic did a few dates at a pre-Werchter festival on the same site in the 90s, so I guess difference of how those are calculated.

Both have still done it ages though, I agree. Kings of Leon doing back-to-back years as a headline was perhaps as big a surprise as well tbf.

PJ HARVEY >> Special announcement coming this Wednesday at 10am BST - the mailing list community will be the first to hear

i think it will have to do with her book - pre-orders for special edition or something

she's still promoting Orlam, too early for an album announcement

No repeats please...

In festivals with ~100 bands, some repeats are unavoidable I’m afraid. So I hope at least we’ll get back the “fun” ones. The ones that are still on the rise and we haven’t seen too many times. Tbh…I’d  rather see Turnstile or Fontaines D.C. again than any of the headliners currently announced.

Honestly it is very easy to avoid. There are so many more band touring, so why would you book a band on repeat

Yes, and put both on them in The Barn, Fontaines will be much better because the crowd will probably be better too, and Turnstile will also be much more fun, as there will be no more "bored" Metallica fans !
