Almost 11k steps so far for today, but I'm expecting another quiet evening at work tonight... So will probably be lucky to make 15k for the day.

Yesterday I hit 15.5k so not bad, but it was quiet at work, so could have been better 😕

Having said all of that, my legs are on fire, feeling it in my shins for some reason, never felt aches there before, age huh? Might have to have a rest day tomorrow, just a small dog walk and an evening shift. I should be far enough ahead on the challenge to allow for a bit of an easier day tomorrow anyway. 🙂

Recovery is an excellent idea - can't get in shape if you're injured 😛

Good day today.

Podiatrist appointment this morning (diabetes can cause problems, and it was problems with my feet which first sent me to the GP) and other than a couple of minor issues everything's ok and she was happy with what I was doing already. Some good advise too. She was actually pretty cool and thanked me for having lovely feet as a 15 minute break from some of the horrific sights (her words) she sees all day was a nice rest. Think it's satisfying for health care professionals to see when someone is being proactive with dealing with their health and I'm clearly not an idiot (if you ignore the part where I left it FAR too long before seeing the GP).

Then dropped the van off for its MOT, which it passed. Ok, not fitness related but when you drive a 17 year old kangoo van, always a relief. Just the regular advisory of 'license plate becoming indistinct' which I've had for the last 3 MOTs and won't sort until it actually fails as it seems to give me free parking in ANPR car parks.

Instead of waiting or getting the bus back I decided to walk back. About 10 miles the route I took through the hills, few decent climbs too so got the blood pumping. Weather wasn't as good as forecast but dry and the clouds gave a certain moodiness to the afternoon. Had too decide which route to take for the second half (follow the low route along the side of the fell or up and over the top) but after stopping for a meat and potato pie and mushy peas (really bad for diabetes but I've been sooo good. The pie was great too.) my decision was made for me and over the top it was. So glad I did.

Please stop posting those amazing pics of your walks. I am getting too jealous and am starting to hope you give up on them 😉

Did a hard gym session this morning and afterwards my quad muscle was so tight I was in huge pain and then I went and had the massage I had booked for today. And she massaged the pain away, also rotated my stiff ankle to try and get that moving better. Feel much better for it, will now have to see if the muscle spasms I've been having are lessened by the massage. Will be great if they are, the spasms are an uncomfortable way to wake up each day.

The jealousy of a person on the internet. Just the extra boost I need! Wait until I'm really fit and start doing some properly interesting routes, not these baby ones I'm doing now. (Relatively speaking)

@philipsteakI envy you both the location and the time during the day to do the walks!!

I am lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

I work in hospitality so my weekend is during the week. Hence the time to get out on a Thursday. And my weird hours mean I can get out before and after shifts. Which reminds me of another little win yesterday. There's a small hill nearby which is good for a quick jaunt after work. Especially note it's getting lighter in the evenings. Not high (by the standards of here) but steep. Would always need a break, even two, on the way up. But powered up in one yesterday.

And was rewarded with this too.

Trying out noom need to shift weight to relieve pressure on my hips. I’ll share the initial results in a couple of weeks

Never heard of it but now that I looked it up it looks interesting! Not ready just yet myself to go "calorie counting" but I'll see where I am at the end of the month...

I am well on track to meet my goal based on my activity minutes so hopefully that will show at some point. I am expecting results not on the scale so much but more how I fit in some clothing that became a little tight. This way I can see if "lean" muscles replaced fat in my body if that doesn't show on the scale.

(ignoring the pictures from @philipsteakas I am off to stare at the same beautiful three inch square of computer screen for the whole day)

Successful massage yesterday, leg muscle pain eased, and no leg spasms overnight. Progress 😁

Is there any way you could do some small self-massaging when needed? I am in no way in your situation but sometimes, just rolling a tennis ball on a muscle can be quite miraculous!

Lovely photos, and a walk like that does the mind as much good as the body.

Thanks, as its my left leg and my left arm and hand doesn't work I decided to look for a device that'll help, so I've ordered a massage ball with massage oil and a four point massage tool. I hope I can work with those.

Ouch I know all these supposed childhood illnesses are meant to be worse if you get them as an adult. Rest up and hope it passes quickly.

I think I'd prefer to reverse my weekday/weekend situation most of the time. I genuinely think within a few decades everyone will be looking at a 4 day week just to keep enough people in employment if nothing else.

I did my end of month weigh in today. Decided to do it on the last Friday or Saturday of each month depending on what I was doing and as tomorrow I have to get up even earlier than a normal weekday this month it's a Friday weight in. Happy with the result 8.8lb's down. It'll be mostly water weight etc so not expecting anything like that every month but a good start.

Good going everyone! I like reading what everyone’s up to, I find it gives me a bit of motivation to carry on with the exercise and trying to eat healthier.

Has anyone tried walking football? My dad also wants to improve his health and was considering signing up for a session

That's quite a result! Congrats!

I am actually starting two weeks 4 days / two weeks 5 days in March. Friday's are just not productive and I want the time to be able to do something else than work/groceries/household crap etc. This especially includes going more often to the climbing hall that's just too packed in the week end to be enjoyable.

After learning about Noom, I now learned about walking football. This thread is full of interesting stuff 🙂

I had a rest day yesterday, my legs just couldn’t take any more. So just 5.2k steps.

But overall I’m still ahead for the week, and fully intend to go hard again today, feeling refreshed.

Have been eating a lot this week though, nothing horrendous like takeaways etc, but yesterday for example I had a full roast (I know, midweek roast) and a pasta bake in the evening. Put it down to needing the calories after the walks and gym visits this week. Mainly focusing on physical fitness for now anyway, weight loss will come naturally if I sustain this rate of activity and avoid takeaway food…
