yeah first thing in  the morning .... have a wireless power bank for the watch  and charge the phone on another ... im not short on charging options .... personally i dont find the step thing that reliable on the watch .

At concerts and festivals it definitely isn't just counting steps but clapping, dancing etc but I suppose there's an argument that it's all movement and movement is good.

I am not a big clapper (as in with the music, I do show appreciations between songs) and dancer and can tell you for a fact that my fitbit really didn't move yesterday evening with my light shuffling and head bobbing. THat'll teach me. Plus now my lower back and knees are sore. Must.Move.More.At.Gigs. MMMAG.

Yep not always but I have gotten over 10k steps at a gig in the past where I have had limited moving room. I've still danced and clapped and come out hot and sweaty so it will be a mini workout.

You can get a good idea of the accuracy if you have an apple watch or Fitbit with built in GPS, mine seems pretty damn close tbh. (A little under in steps if anything.)

Good week so far... Walked around Ladybower Reservoir, Carsington Reservoir, Mapperley Reservoir x 2 and along the River Derwent around Belper... I'm on 76,717 so far, leaving what should be an easy 8,283 to get over the course of this evening and at work tomorrow. 🙂

Starting to 'feel' fitter again now. I'm losing weight very slowly with no adjustment to my diet whatsoever, I've been quite 'naughty' actually, but as I said a few weeks ago, I want to build fitness first, then go hard with the diets and excercise. My previously slim fitting jeans look like baggy jeans now, so whilst the weight is slow, there's definitely some body transformation occuring, just a shame the belly is always last haha.

Ohh forgot to add, had my Merrell Moab's for a good while now, so I treated myself to some new walking boots... Some nice new Merrell Moabs, haha, although in a different colour. Been breaking them in this week. Can't reccomend them enough, no discomfort or sores whatsoever, I could have just taken them as new to Glasto!

another thing to add... I don't think I'll do very well at all next week, not much free time whatsoever, have plans on Monday, a funeral wake to host wednesday and I'm not gonna lie, I have some gaming to squeeze in too!!! But I'll try my best. 🙂

62km ride, 3km run, weights session. My legs are fucking shot hahahaha.

P.s. all the steps and walking you're doing is more than enough, keep it up, I just want to be able to go for runs each morning after a day exploring stages and places.

So satisfying to see that happening isn't it? Even more so than what's happening on the scales.

If I get my van fixed, and hear back from the hostel about my free stay, I'll be down Derbyshire way next week. Looking to have a couple of days at Ilam, get away from the Lake District half term madness (and go to the Peak District half term slightly less madness instead) so other than the ones mentioned any recommendations on good walks?

Managed 100 k last week somehow, although I suspect a few are from the electric scooter I used this weekend on wobbly pavement. 550 active minutes so good as well. Keeping up with the couch to 5 K but I am slowing down speed wise as my knee is acting up. Crossing fingers it's just a little temporary pain. Still not weighting myself as to avoid disappointment and as to focus on condition.

I'm glad to see the days getting longer. No fancy Peak District walks for me but still, not having to rush out of work to go and run and do things in the garden is SO nice.

My steps for last week. Also managed over 100k steps. Definitely nowhere especially photogenic. Like you I'm not weighing myself either (only do that once a month at the end of each month) but have kept the diet on track as well. The key thing for me has been no snacking and my meals are fairly normal. Not mega healthy but not unhealthy either.

Ilam is Derbyshire... In terms of walks, there's places like Mam Tor and Kinder Scout which is stunning, although on the slightly more challenging end (for me and my fear of exposed heights at least.) On the easier end is the ladybower walk, we did this one, this week, for the first time. Some spectacular views, and a really easy 6 mile (I think) circular walk. There's also the option to make things more challenging and tag on walks up to some of the hill tops around there if you're not phased by heights, you could wander up to Derwent Heights, Bamford edge or Back Tor.

Stanage edge is definitely worth a visit too, absoloutely stunning and, for me at least, terrifying at the same time. But all of the places I've mentioned so far are probably closer to Manchester than Ilam, haha.

Chee Dale near Buxton is worth a visit on your way South.

Carsington Reservoir isn't a million miles from Ilam. But, possibly contraversial opinion here, it's a bit 'boring.' It's a nice easy, mostly flat, 8 mile circular walk, along excellent even paths, has a great visitor centre and it is pretty... Just not in the same 'glorious green dales' way as Ilam or 'stunning mountainous peaks' way as the Northern parts of the peak district. I would say it's worth a visit whilst down there though. It's a good way to get that step count up, I'll be using it a lot over the coming months...

Apart from previously mentioned places, like Dovedale, and places I've heard of but can't vouch for myself, that's about my limit for that part of the peaks...

If you're looking for none walking things to do too, Matlock Bath and Bakewell are worth a visit, in the same touristy way as I like to visit Padstow when in Cornwall, or Glastonbury town when in Somerset.

Derbyshire schools are on holiday from the 17th, I wouldn't expect most of these places to get too busy though. Carsington, Matlock, and Bakewell always get busy at weekends, and Dovedale will be rammed if the weather's nice. The rest should be fine.

Best week for a long time, Also the first week this year where I've managed over 10k steps every day, and walked over 70km... 1000km in the year looks easy at that rate... 😮

Not that it's particularly important, but I also managed to complete all of the Apple Watch rings every day...

Edit: Forgot to add, we should definitely up the target to 90k this week... However, to be fair to myself, with the amount of (none walking) things I have on this week, I have a personal secondary target of just hitting the 10k every day. Any more, though I will still try for 90k, is a bonus.

got my next free massage this week, finally convinced they're worthwhile, it relieved the muscle pain in my leg for six days, (and that was six days i wasn't taking strong painkillers, which was good), i'm hoping for the same effect this time(as the pain is starting to get bad again).

Cheers for those. Will look in to some of them if I do end up coming down that way. Chee Dale is a good shout for the way down. Was planning on taking most of the day to get down there so that's a good place to explore.

Started my walking again after Christmas and January slobing around. Now days are stretching out I should find it easier as I am one of the main careers for my folks who are needing more time so lighter nights help

Got my distances back up and I am back to walking at 3m per hour which I need to improve.

Great to be back out again.

Massage today, i did some seated zumba yesterday, and my sub lux shoulder is hurting from that so plan to get some shoulder massage as well as my leg.

BIG milestone passed today. 20kgs lost since I started! Really happy to hit that marker. Just 2 kgs more to go until I am officially "healthy".  Then another 5 or so and I'll be happy with where I am.

I just seem to have a totally different mindset from before too. An example being I had to take my van in to the garage, about 4 miles away. Which previously would've meant getting a bus back (and back there) or cadging a lift from someone and just seeing the whole venture as a massive inconvenience. Now though, perfect opportunity to get those steps up after work. I mean it's not the nicest walk in the world, it's the busiest road through the lake district, but it's still the lake district, so you know...

I seem to be inspiring others too which is nice. Had a few people ask how I've done it and confided that they've had various warnings from their GPs.

So if anyone needs me I'll be doing a photo shoot for Take a Break magazine holding up my massive jeans!

For those not into " regular"  sports, here's today's work out for me. I just went for a 30 mn run, and well, my performance was quite subpar. Then I checked my fitbit data, and realized that before my run, I spent quite some time replanting a hedge. Gardening burned EXACTLY the same amount of calories than my run did (458 to be precise). So yay for gardening and yay for the gardening season starting up (if you can garden of course) !

I am now wondering how to track various Glasto activities: Afternoon gig at Acoustic : 100 calories. Afternoon gig at acoustic in a chair : - 200 calories. Going crazy at NYC downlow:  300 calories. Making it through the crust and the blankets in the front pit before the LEgend slot : 500 calories (that's Iron man level). Parking to Oxlyers with a crate: 250 calories, etc etc... (sorry my brain is weird after running)
