Cracking first lineup announcement for me and has swung me back round to getting tickets.

Viagra Boys, Snapped Ankles, Interpol, Numan, Yard Act, Lovely Eggs, She Drew the Gun and Warmduscher are all great fun live, as are Pigsx7 and Bunnymen on their day.

Quite a few new things to rxplore

Reckon another headliner to come?

They are pretty most of the bands I am most excited by...Benefits are definitely worth a watch as well.

Its gonna be a great year to catch a lot of  smaller/upcoming bands I think.

Really hoping they add DEADLETTER as well.

Are they going to sell a daily ticket for the festival? Would love to see Interpol again but I am not a fan of the rest of the lineup.

Exceptionally unlikely.

I'd have said no chance, but the fact it's new ownership creates maybe 0.1% doubt.

Mega lineup. Tickets got. First timer! Wooooo! Tell me things, people x

It's bloody great.  Few hiccups last year with camping a bit tight and increased capacity but still had a fantastic time - and they say they're addressing it next year.  Decent ale and cider for sale but you can take your own cans if you want.  Woodland stage is magical.  Mau Waui has talented eclectic stuff on - all genres from swing to unable-to-put-in-a-genre.  Never really visited Cabaret and Magical Sounds but others love them.  Gail's Tea Tent is small and intimate with very talented acts on.  Teapot is great fun - a venue that sells tea and has an upright piano the staff play to singalong.  Found a great late night old school disco in the kids tent (I think, it was a bit hazy by then).  Lots of decent food stalls.

And on top of that, it's always the first festival of the year!

Really small site, until last year never felt that crowded (but they are making some changes that should address that). Really eclectic line up, definitely worth checking out some of the smaller stages/tents. Great beer and food stalls, never any queues for beer as you can your own in the arena.

Can get a bit cold at night that early in the season though so take plenty of blankets/quilts.

Thursday doesnt usually have a lot on but worth getting their early if you can so you can get pitched up and soak up the atmosphere a bit

Main thing for me is it probably the friendliest festival crowd, just full of sound people having a crack.

Last year we saw Flaming Lips soundchecking 'Do You Realize??' and I bumped into Wayne Coyne later so its my favourite place on the planet!

I was in the shower when I heard the Flaming Lips soundcheck! Bad timing on my part.

We were just inside the arena getting some breakfast when they started so pegged it over there. Had the babby on my shoulders when they did 'Do You Realize??', not gonna lie it broke me...crying like a baby!

I was at at Strummerville at Glastonbury for a couple of hours this year chatting to random folk and having a few beers. Got taking to some lads, just who are you looking forward type conversation etc I and I mentioned Yard Act. One of the lads said he was a drummer in a band and they had supported Yard Act. I asked who his band were and he said Deadletter.

I made a note and listened to them after. Pretty decent. They played a small venue in Manchester recently but couldn't make it but agree be good to see them. Nice lads as well!

After a pretty positive response to the lineup annou8ncement I have to say seeing this just now surprised me. The FB chat group has been archived! I am told it will be back........ but who knows.

There is another group with 714 members and was started by the official page in August 2020..... it has one post.

I assume that the moderators just figured they can't be arsed with it at the moment. I'm not a regular by any stretch (and haven't seen the lineup reaction there) but whenever I've looked in it's not seemed like an especially nice atmosphere and there's a huge lack of self awareness on just about all sides.

On one side you've got people who seem actively determined to find any fault they can with the new ownership, in some cases imagining things to be offended by or assuming that something not being confirmed immediately means all their worst fears are reality and the festival is turning into V - then on the other hand you've got people who are bored with those kind of posts jumping on it, but too aggressively and so hitting people who are just passing legitimate comment. People on both sides, correctly, point out that the other is behaving poorly while being oblivious to their own role.

It used to be quite nice as far as FB groups go.... but has, as you rightly say, turned into a them and us type group.

I just hope the festival itself retains the feel of total happiness and inclusivness that helped make it.

One person who breached the rules, so I am told by an admin, was automatically removed by Facebook them selves.............  and that person was a DHP stage manager!!! Eeeeek

That FB group can be very odd. It seems like any change that has been made since about 2015 is frowned upon and many think the line-up should be the same as it was then every year. I've not looked since the announcement but had presumed most people would be happy. Obviously not!

Pretty much everyone is happy - but a very odd few seem intent of bringing nastiness into the group................ let's hope they stay away from the festival itself.

If you get a chance definitely worth going out of your way to see them...caught them twice this year and been phenomenal both times.
