Fastest finger first I believe

If that’s the case how did it manage to sell out at 11:00:01 yesterday? Even if there was only one place available no one had made payment that quickly. Not that I’d be taking my time if I managed to get past this screen

Got a volunteering space with Oxfam last year in the first release, subsequently kept looking for a friend afterwards. Throughout May, I found spaces became available quite a few times. With a bit of persistence (i.e checking sporadically a few times a day between 9-5), I'd say you can be fairly hopeful of getting a space!

Good point. Was only going on what others have said

I’ve just accidentally refreshed the page and lost my spot FFS

I had my page still open on my laptop from yesterday with Glastonbury not showing as sold out, so I just had to keep hitting the Proceed button - but I stupidly changed my password last night so I imagine i'll be logged out on there when I log back in again tomorrow so i'll have to start back at the beginning again.

I think that particularly for volunteering, it’s quite a good thing when persistence pays off. Of course there are people who are persistent and it still doesn’t work, but those that aren’t that arsed, have given up & those that are committed, are still in with a chance.

@chestwig- if you are still looking, you are still in with a chance!

Plus the extra satisfaction you'll feel when you finally get a place.

This was me. Never stopped trying despite sold out messages and finally got lucky yesterday afternoon.  I've literally tried everything to get in the festival from organising resale groups to volunteering for everything.  I am super excited to be volunteering though as feel I'll get a lot from it personally.

I will let people know on here if my space goes back in so people can be ready. I definitely do not have the excitement that I once did. I also have a gig on the Tuesday of the event that I find very close to unsellable and working around that gig and to be at Glastonbury may be to much of a pain all round.

This organisation isn't exactly selling itself on that website. It makes it look like they'll be a nightmare to work for. Anyone had any experience with them?

Yeah it's a massive red flag, so I'm not pushing it. I've heard of oasis carnival clubs inside the fence being quite a good deal though. Stewarding etc that's not too difficult.

Plenty of people missed out because payment page slowed them down (according to the Facebook page comments)

Me and my missus still have a pending payments each for a spot we got for somebody yesterday so assuming that will return to the pot at some point. Could be more of them. Just gotta be ready and there will be the odd return over the coming weeks.

Fastest finger first.

That's a good sentiment, but unfortunately it seems to be quite difficult to make a direct correlation between places being cancelled and when they subsequently become available. It appears that there's a step or two behind the scenes that's not visible to us.

I know you meant this, but just to clarify the various Carnival Clubs operating inside the fence aren't Oasis or directly linked to them, indeed they're some of their competitors. Fully agree on not listing Oasis, and unfortunately I'm not aware of any of the others recruiting from outside their own (often fairly substantial) ranks.

Yep it looks to be Bristol only. Have you not had the email from Hana at Avalon Bars yet?

I got a punter ticket for this year (long story). Just asking out of interest. That's a right pain in the arse for anyone who doesn't live in the west.

I think both are fine. I used my friend who works in law and the reference has been accepted.

I once had a solicitor try to tell me that a proof of person reference from a Chief Immigration Officer wasn't good enough. They backed down when I pointed out that their bread and butter 24/7 job was making sure that people are who they say they are.

My first volunteering spot was got at short notice.

Keep at it everyone and good luck.
