I don't know how big the affect would be on the festival, but wouldn't one easier way of cutting costs would be to simply tell each stage/venue/tent to cut one performance from their schedule whether it meant starting an hour later or an hour later in the evening?

Would it matter really matter if places that finish at 6am finish at 5? And if they spread out some of the bands out over the day and had 8 performers at the JP instead of 9, would change much?

I don't know if that would even save that much money, but for a one off festival, and then return to normal in 2024?

How much money is being saved when nobody gets that much to begin with. If it was full fees being paid then you could easily see how much difference it makes. And even if its one less act the crews and such still have to be at the stage getting things ready.

Move JPT into that field, and then get double use out of it.

A substantial amount of money saved, and a decent amount of space towards the North of the site freed up.

As a bonus, it means JPT is less "out of the way" for my typical ambling.

JPT will always be overcrowded whenever popular bands play and where ever you put it. Always has bèen since the day it first emerged. It's the nature of the beast.......It's a tent!

When I first went in 2004 it was just one big dance tent with a few micro venues near it.

Sure - but at least its currently quite far from a lot of stages, rather than slap bang in the middle of the site!

JPT won’t move. It was moved to there to create a safe place to have secret sets. The field can easily be closed off and does not cause congestion around any of the main traffic routes. 
Plus as I volunteer at Spring Ground it shouldn’t move-I like it where it is

And to give you an idea of how a low deposit plus payments def favor a lot of folks. EDC had their general sale today. No lineup ( doesnt come til feb or so ). Cal is 150,000. $10 deposit and 8 payments of $60 a month for a regular ga ticket. Doesnt include all of their vip options and such. Sold out in half an hour.

By next month they will have 70$ from every punter + loads of people will have paid full price straight away ... so way more money to work with than glasto have till march. Not sure what your point is, glasto sells out every year - don't fix what isn't broken!

More of pointing out how people flock to the low numbers they see with no regard of whats coming later. The $10 deposit thing is such a scam though. Cause if you bought multiple tickets on one card and did payments you have to make sure everyone has their money ready to go. Lets also keep in mind theyre going to spend even more than a glasto punter because camping costs extra or a vegas hotel.
