Apparently not - or at least that's what Kunt off of Kunt and the Gang was saying when he was trying to get the Xmas number one.

Lol well it’s the thought that counts.

Dua isn’t touring

Blackpink couldn’t headline glasto

Harry is a man and you just said that was the issue with GnR

Florence….. I suppose

I thought Florence would have been a good shout especially if they’re really wedded to the idea of a female headliner (and even though Emily herself says it won’t always be possible). But if it’s Elton and GNR they have the same issue they had with Bruce and Neil in 2009. Those acts may not be available again, it isn’t as easy as ‘we really need to give it Florence this year for our quota, can you do it next year?’

I'm kinda surprised at how spread out those dates listed a few pages back are. March-August seems like quite the large window to be doing a USA tour.

Haim as support for some of the rumoured shows is less of a surprise. The loud welcome Taylor got when she came on stage with Haim at London O2 a few weeks back and Haim's appearance in one of TS' music videos indicates quite the crossover. Though if the rumour is also true, it's a decent gig for beabadoobee to land.

her shows tend to be massive production wise, i also think that they arent sure of the true demand of the tour and will have time allocated for extra dates that will be needed

why does elton seem so nailed on for this year?

I think the main reason is that he rescheduled a date he originally had in Paris on Glasto Sunday 2023. That created a very conspicuous Glastonbury shaped hole in his diary. He’s had gaps like that before, but not ones he moved gigs around to create. Add to that his heritage status as someone - you’d assume - the festival would love to have play, and that he’ll be bowing out of touring in a year or two, and it just feels more likely than normal.

Possibly. I did spot on one of her previous tours tbf that she had a brief pause of US touring into which UK and Irish dates slotted right in, so plausibly, could well happen, even if the leaked dates indicate Glasto wouldn't be on the list.

only issue with this is that i assume glasto have their headliners sorted out quite far in advance, esp with covid so why would he schedule a date where he knew he was playing glasto, does seem very possible tho

Booked in advance isn't a binary thing. It's quite probable that that have a loose idea a couple years out, but contracts won't be signed until much closer and there's examples we know of where booked acts have changed their plans - so headliners can come into the picture much later on.

There is a recentish example of an act moving a show to accommodate Glastonbury, when The Who moved a show (also Paris) to play - and that move only happened approx 3 months before the Festival.

He moved the show before Glasto 2022 happened.

Absolutely legendary. 1.14m PURE sales. That’s near enough what 1989 did back in 2014…

An artist selling 1.14m albums (physical, vinyl, digital) in 2022 is completely unheard of nowadays.

Incredible effort 👏

So a massive US tour starts in the Spring. That makes perfect sense. What you guys have to remember is that Taylor is still well versed in playing festival type sets prior to a big tour and in the middle of one. She did this with Reputation - a 5 song set at the Jingle Bell Ball at the O2 in December (I was there)  - a longer set at Radio One Big Weekend in May the following year. When the full stage show arrived from the US shortly after it was on a much bigger scale but the music/dancers/band was exactly the same. The choreography for a song like Gorgeous was EXACTLY the same. So, let's say the stage show is based on a gigantic clock that won't fit on the Pyramid - it doesn't matter to her as long as she's putting on a great performance. If she's got a nice big gap in the schedule she can jet over knowing the full band are fully drilled, plenty of dates completed to fix any issues. Taylor will NOT want to put this off until 2024 especially as Midnights is definitely looking to be a mega career peak. The other thing that nobody has mentioned is the BBC. She clearly has a very good relationship with the Beeb. Several appearances on the Big Weekend including Norwich prior to the 1989 dates. Isle Of Wight line up released tomorrow. Now THEY would sign her in a flash AND they have the cash as we saw with Fleetwood Mac. Taylor clearly loves us Brits -  I think she would happily do IOW and Glastonbury in a heartbeat. If she's at IOW she'll be at Glasto. Have faith!!!

Maybe IOW of old. Pulp, George Ezra and Robbie Williams headlining this year.

IOW don't have the money they did when they booked Fleetwood Mac. They are a festival now that pretty much survived by downgrading to booking sub acts.

Its all true. And its the new model to tour and to keep costs down for stadium dates. Playing only on weekends, only need one stage to truck around. The artist only having to perform twice within a week at most. Ed Sheeran just did this for his 2022 tour and is doing it again next year in usa. Promoters and artists are trying to find better ways to keep the money train rolling and this is the new normal. You either only play on weekends how its done in Vegas or do residencies like Harry Styles to meet demand. I posted an article about the Vegas hybrid model and now its being seen as too much to believe

think everyone needs to accept its not happening already. Its done, move on.

It’s a big slot for Beebadoobee, but very plausible

Swift has given her a nod previously

Certainly I can guess that we're not going to get a scenario like U2 lugging around 3 copies of their £20M+ Claw stage used on their 2009-11 U2 360 stadium run at extreme expense any time soon.

If you're in a position to do shows that big with a schedule that spread out and have an easier workload for artist and crew, then that's fair enough I guess. It's more of a surprise given I remember Swift's original 2020 tour plans before covid interrupted being the more intense close-quarter grind that is doing European festivals, but clearly she must have pivoted to thinking this was preferable.

But hey, it is what it is, and if nothing else, means we're looking elsewhere for a Glasto headline pick.

Clearly I wasn't aware of that. But then I presume Swift is on board with picking supports and if she's wanting to give slots to acts she likes, pick away.

I reckon so. She pretty much does what she wants these days.
