Trash lineup this year. Our group were excited to go again and said we'd go whatever the lineup was but after seeing how bad it is we've cancelled all plans.

This year excludes NOS Alive, my possibility will be Vodafone Paredes de Coura and then I'll take the tent and go to the Vilar de Mouros Festival the following week. Will peek at this two festivals.

RHCP have a boring liveshow and Arctic Monkeys wasn't too hot either last time but Lizzo puts on a fun show and The Black Keys are a nice comeback. QOTSA is a bit hit and miss but last time was excellent. I have never seen Sam Smith though.

So yeah, mixed bag in terms of headliners. Best name on the lineup for me are Angel Olsen and IDLES.

I woudn't say RHCP have a boring show but you have to know their songs really well to enjoy it. If not, you can't be in the mood. Like I've heard lot of people saying Pearl Jam's shows were so good but both time I saw them, I left before the end of the show as I was bored a f*ck.

About Arctic Monkeys, I guess it depends if the band is motivated or not. If they're not and just have their boring and casual British stars, their shows are really boring. The difference between their show at Pukkelpop and Reading last Summer was insane.

That being said. Looking forward to catch again the RHCP at Nos Alive this Summer!

I for one love some of their songs and know a lot of their catalogue, but for some reason RHCP never excited me during their live shows. Always a good start but halfway through the energy always disappear and they always lose a lot of the audience. Saw them 3 times, was disappointed 3 times.

They play like 10 hits out of the 16 songs but usually almost all of them are at the beginning and the end. The middle is usually deep(er) cuts and new songs which loses the crowd and then they finish strong with Californication/Give it Away/Under The Bridge/By The Way

I'm not even talking about song choices, but rather these weird pauzes between songs or inaudible stage banter. I know jamming is their thing, but I'd rather hear some more songs. For some reason they always lose the energy built in the first 10-15min. Can't put my finger on it on why I always leave their shows with a feeling of 'meh'.

I am considering giving NOS Alive a try this year - any tips regarding accommodation and how to best get out from the festival site each night? I would prefer to stay in Lisbon downtown, any insights appreciated!

Don't worry about it, there are free festival buses taking you to the center of Lisbon and to the campsite too.

Look for accomodations in walking distance from Cais do Sodrè station: a train goes there from festival site every 30 minutes during festival nights and it takes 10 minutes (if nothing changed during the last years).

is the train station only closed straight after a the headliner? ive walked past before and they have guards blocking the entrance, is that due to overcrowding and crush fears?

i also never knew they had free buses going to the centre!!

During the 2 years I've been there, the entrance right in front of the festival area was closed for a few hours in the night, until 3 am more or less. Until that time, you had to walk on a longer path guiding you to a bigger station entrance (easy to see as there were hundreds of people walking on it). After 3 am the closest entrance to the festival was open again.
i think they'll still act like that, because it worked well.

when did this sell out? cant find 3 day tickets anywhere anymore!! they usually announce it dont they

They did announce it but they squeezed that info alongside the first day being sold out. Genius communication and clarity, par for the course really

Watching the Pukkelpop lineup come in, I feel like we're missing out a bit. Tom Odell, Jessie Ware, Aitch, 2 Many DJs aren't necessarily all to my taste but they're making the lineup better. Feel like we've been waiting too long (plus MGK and Lil Nas really aren't my bag, so I think I've forgotten they were announced)

Lil Nas is a really big name though. (Not lil at all)

Is it me or does the first day look a bit weak. The Black Keys surely isn't big enough to sub such a big festival 2023?

I’m hoping (probably naively) for Liam, Prodigy or even Mumford to fill that slot above The Black Keys.

Either way, I hope we get something soon.

I don't expect anything big on Thu given 3-day and 1-day tickets are sold out. They also probably spent a lot of money on RHCP. I am happy to be proven wrong though 😉

It’s more of a tour schedule problem than a placement problem. Lizzo and Lil Nas X are also too big to sub together for Friday. One of them can be easily be a sub for Thursday but their tour schedule only allows for Friday.
