Live at Leeds: In the City 2022

Just bought tickets for this. Keen to see Warmduscher, W.H. Lung, Working Men's Club, the Flints, Swim Deep and Spector. Never been before, anyone got any recommendations in terms of approach or acts to see? Do popular acts/venues ever get so busy to the extent that they stop letting people in?

Yes, if a venue gets full then it becomes one in / one out with a queue to get in once there is space. Last year I mainly remember this happening at the smaller venues e.g. Oporto and the Wardrobe. I think there was also a queue for the O2 because they do bag searches.

I had a great time last year, really looking forward to WH Lung, WMC, Los Bitchos and more this time. If you're not familiar with some of the venues then definitely have a look at the map before planning your day, some of them (e.g. the Brudenell and Hyde Park Book Club) are pretty far out from the wristband exchange.

Thanks. Yep, agree that a lot of the city centre venues should be easy to move between, but HPBC and Brudenell are further afield and probably call for taxis. 

Been listening to Los Bitchos this afternoon, they're great! Keen to see them if Brudenell isn't full

Looking forward to this as usual, i think i have been to every live at leeds ever. 
My schedule:

sprints > seraphina simone > warmduscher > joe & the shitboys > working mens - break - opus kink > los bitchos

break as we luckily dont have anyone we want to see early evening and bought tickets to see a comedian without realising the date clash 🤦🏻‍♂️ (Jess fostekew at city varieties) but somehow i dont think we’ll miss anyone we are bothered about!

cant get to, but would see them: Sam Airey, Melin Melyn

Tips are: get your wristband early so its over & done with as its usually quite far from most venues, ish.

if theres something early you want to see ie before 2pm get there well in advance as most venues fill up because they are small (the larger venues like beckett, academy dont open till later on, to absorb the crowds)

i rarely recall queing in recent years apart from stuff really early on. As has been mentioned, entering the academy is very slow as they search e everyone thoroughly so be in good time if theres something you want to see there.

dont forget to eat! and if you have time, drop into a few bars that have decent drinks as the bars in almost all the venues are awful. I would recommend the following if you like great beer: north bar or north taproom on sovereign st, bundobust (also great for food) whitelocks/turk’s head. Assembly underground is decent for beer & casual food too. Theres a good bar next to belgrave called the watermark that does food too. I will probably end up grabbing taco bell for convenience 😂

Also if you like live at leeds you may appreciate belgrave’s dark arts festival 2 weeks after that imo has nicked a few bands that should be playing live at leeds such as fat dog and english teacher

Cheers - my issue there is i'm planning to see Spector at Wardrobe who are on 21:45 to 22:45
