Well yeah but Kennedy obviously wouldn't headline. Point I'm making is if they're happy to book Capaldi then Kennedy could be booked as well, they're basically the same act. And as has been pointed out, they've booked Kennedy before so obviously he could be booked for R+L.

I believe Jamie Oborne was quoted saying 1975 are taking time off following UK/EU tour which finishes up in March (I assume to write the next album)

Well I just mentioned to my 18 year old Co-worker that Blink 182 were a strong rumour to headline and he had no idea in the world who they were lol.

If Blink wouldn't draw enough away in 2024, then its obv a no go. Potentially wasted main stage sub if he's that big then too.

Who'd be the best sized alternative to Blink? Someone to get the kids excited but not so excited that they'd pull the tent down!

 

EDit- just remembered he was due to do it in 2020 against RATM. Is he really any bigger now?

Yeah, he’s absolutely massive now. The crowd he pulled last year was Central Cee level. 
 

As an alternative to Blink, I think any sort of rapper of dance artist would be a good choice. Little Simz, maybe? Andy C?

Again that was with no one else to see on other stages though, how many aren’t there if Blink are on the other stage?

AJ Tracey would be absolutely rammed even back then against RATM and he would be against Blink too - he's clearly a mainstage act unless against a rapper - which obviously makes 0 sense

We may be surprised given previous years, where splits take the crowds.

How does he compare to Dave sizewise in 2019?  He was up against the 1975, so a different prospect in drawing the younguns away.

The worst I've seen the Big Tent was for Twenty One Pilots vs Disclosure in 2016. You couldn't get close.

Other big ones in the past - Mumfords vs QOTSA, CATB vs BMTH, couldnt get in the tent for either of those but not nearly as bad as 21P.

 

Blink may well be too old to pull much of the crowd away. How about Rodrigo then, how do people think that split would go down?

Blink 182 are main stage or nothing. The thing is, they are not the demographic crowd that makes up most of R&L, AJ Tracy will absolutely be a bigger draw I think.

 

We say otherwise because all of us very much are music fans, and in the minority.

 

Most of those kids are 16-20 that want to get absolutely blasted on tinnies, burn down peoples tents because it's funny, and chant Thiago Silva at every rap act. 

They're all primary bucket hat wearing, sh*tty football top from Kavos wearing kids that think Blink-182 is for spotty skaters and emos in CEX.

 

AJ Tracy appears on RapCaviar and UKRap Spotify playlists and so the kids will know that's who they have to listen to.
