If you could have 1 Main Stage : 3 headliners, who would be your fantasy pick?

Arctic Monkeys // Kanye West // Foo Fighters would be mine in every single reality. Drake is close behind Kanye, but Kanye has been the guy for me since at least sitting in the park on a Friday night circa 6th form 2007

My Chemical Romance, Kanye West & The White Stripes.

The White Stripes are probably one of the only yet to reform bands who I think would absolutely smash a reunion and be just as good as before they went away.

Hmm reckon Beatles are only MSW these days 😉

I’d have RATM / Strokes / Pulp, if I was booking 2024 and it was just for me

They’d be on at about 1pm 🤣

A modern day dream would be BMTH / Catfish / Liam Gallagher. Yes, I like drinking dark fruits. 2015-2021 really were the glory years.

I’m not massively up on The White Stripes’ break up but I understand that Oasis reforming is more likely?

MCR, I knew I’d forget a big one.

I wouldn't bet on that. There's 100s of venues worldwide, someone will book him eventually

The sheer amount of Instagram stories I see from people still using his songs hints there's still a market for Kanye. Unless that just means old Kanye, not necessarily knowing the idiot he's been of late.

I think there’s always a place for his music but due to how erratic he is and like I said due to him being closely associated to hate groups then any promoter would distance themselves to not be associated.

he’d also probs want some obnoxious fee in an attempt to climb back to his ‘billionaire’ status that he never had lol.

Green Day (playing pre American Idiot material), Pearl Jam and Blink 182.

Pure fantasy would be Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, Oasis.

In terms of who's still around and I haven't seen, Radiohead/The Weeknd/Paramore.

Very unrealistic: Radiohead, AC/DC, Kanye West

Slightly more realistic: Foo Fighters, Dua Lipa, Rage Against The Machine

Actually somewhat realistic: Green Day, Paramore, The Strokes

The first one is no way

the second one seems unlikely - Dua is nailed on for glasto it seems and foos played pretty recently

Seems unlikely to me 3 rock acts for the last one tbh. Strokes as part of this makes a pretty weak MSE trio

I mean, the assignment was to pick who I personally want to see, was it not?

Having spent last weekend at another festival that actually offered choice and diversity of things to do beyond just the music, we all decided there is no chance that we will go back to Reading, unless it returns to the old format, or there are some proper killer acts that we have to see.

Despite paying more, for what on paper was in effect less (number of bands wise), the ability to choose who we wanted to see and areas to spend time while we had the odd bit of downtime resulted in a far more enjoyable experience than just being dumped in a field and given a single stream of choice

Kanye is a tough one.

There is no way he'd be booked, he is far to erratic just not turning up to shows and events and that would absolutely be the final nail in R&L coffin.

It's also not nice watching a man get cast out of society because he has a mental illness. The amount of terrible sh*t that people with tourettes say, its a slippery slope to cancel people based on those things.

In that whole Hitler moment, aside from the head in my hands "what the f**k are you doing" feeling, the entire world then instantly took the side of the company that is using literal government run child kidnapping slavery centres, because they worship a different faith to the government mandated one.

In that situation, I'd side over the mentally ill man that doesn't necessarily have much control over what he's doing, compared to that corporation using child slave labour.

Problematic to me are people like Drake, and R Kelly. Both child abusing predators.

I suspect if you werent such a fan of his music youd feel a little differently.  Also, I don't think many people were on "Adidas' side", indeed they took a load of criticism too for not instantly binning him, instead of instantly sucking up the loss...

I hope Michael Jackson is also on your Drake/ R Kelly list, or does his musical output also exclude him?

I could be wrong, but I understand he has terribly uninformed and hateful anti-semitic viewpoints that he regularly preaches, which can’t be excused solely by tourettes syndrome

No UK festival should endorse those viewpoints by allowing him to perform

Yup, I don't think Tourettes alone stops you from saying - "GAH! I didnt mean to actually say that"

As long as you're not listening to his music
