Out of interest how does it compare to other Festivals?!

I go to Victorious Festival too which is mid tier and costs £155.

If you want value for money - you could look abroad? In the UK Reading  / Leeds Fest is rubbish, IOW is awful line ups, download is good if you like metal and hard rock, however Glasto is in a league of its own. You can go to Glasto, not watch 1 band and have the time of your life.

Rock Werchter, Primavera, Mad Cool and Sziget festivals are all great and much more affordable in terms of tickets and generally have great line ups  -  all abroad though and they really are about the line ups  -  still not a patch on Glasto.

You really can not compre Victorious with Glasto

I know they put some slightly cheaper tickets on sale recently but Primavera standard tickets are €325 now, which I think is an even bigger percentage increase than Glastonbury. It just seems to be the way big festivals and gigs are going these days unfortunately.

Reading is £288 (£265 + fees for Wednesday entry)

Boomtown is £335/£315 (£305 Wednesday entry, £20 refundable eco bond, £10 fee).

Note-You can get Boomtown for £316/£305 (£270 public transport ticket, £16 shuttle bus ticket, £20 refundable eco bond, £10 fee)

Download is £313 (£290+fees, five days camping)

So Glastonbury really is out in front here.

I don’t mind - I think its worth every penny.

But I’m 23 and have decent paying job and no major responsibilities in terms of bills so quite fortunate I can make the decision to pay. Gutted for those who’ve been priced out as it’s a tremendous jump in price.

RE coach prices, I wondered if they should just charge everyone the same ticket cost regardless of where they're going from out of solidarity. Some of the price differences are huge.

Everyone pays £75 regardless where they're coming from.

Might stop ppl travelling to get coaches from other places too.

Yeah, I'm out.

Been at every Glastonbury since 2010 and I think 2022 will be my final one for a while.

Got a wedding and honeymoon etc. to pay for next year, so I can't justify anywhere near that amount. Thought about another Primavera trip to kill the holiday/festival birds with one stone, but that's gone well up since I last went as well.

The game's gone.

People just paid £90 to watch Blink-182 alone and they could probably double the shows they're doing with the demand.

Glasto will sell out in a microsecond as usual. It's just going to price a bracket of earners out, sadly.

Glastonbury is a different kettle of fish to a one off gig, though. Including travel, food, drink and camping gear, we’re now looking at the price of an all inclusive holiday. It may very well sell out in seconds again, but Glastonbury sits in the holiday bracket, not a one off event.

Why would that stop that? Most people who get coaches from places not nearby to them are getting them because they can get the coach + ticket to a festival.

I know that they technically haven’t increased the prices for 3 years but that feels significant. Having to come down from around Sunderland means we’ll probably not be able to try for coach sale now and chance our hand on the Sunday morning.

On the other hand though, we ended up paying about £275 for our Leeds tickets this year and got lumbered with The 1975 headlining and the only late night entertainment being A-Level students out of their mind on ket so in real terms Glasto is well worth the extra £60

I’m not comparing it! 😂.  Was wondering how much other festivals are and listed Victorious as one I knew (as I go)

The journey to £400 in 5 years just got a lot closer. Hooray for the pound vs the dollar being even, its a bargain.

I am selfishely hoping the pound doesn't get back up. OR that we could pay it all before it does.

Anyway, was half discussing doing another fest this next summer but that looks like it's not going to happen. And am now considering my "going on thursday is fine" attitude.

But yes all the prices are going up in a shocking manner so I don't see why GL wouldn't...

Funnily enough, I think this could actually have a knock-on effect on the rest of the festival industry. A significant increase in ticket price plus the greater consumption costs over the five days may reduce more avid festival goer's ability to afford to attend additional events. For most, Glastonbury is the priority but some also like to enjoy a smaller and more intimate event, like Beautiful Days, Victorious, etc. People could be so spent out from Glastonbury that they're unable to stretch to anything else over the summer. Of course that's not necessary GFL's problem, but it will be interesting to see if it does influence ticket sales elsewhere

You'd hope such a price rise would result in a headliner announcement pre-ticket day to give an indication of what people are paying for, but my gut feeling is we're still some time away from that.

I'm going to be (hopefully) putting my deposit down on a ticket then will wait for the lineup drop before I commit fully to paying off the balance.

I've been enough to know "it's not about the lineup" but for £340 in my mind that'll be the bit which sways me.

You should also factor in travel and drink for one-off shows if you're doing the same for Glasto, Blink would have meant us driving to/from Manchester with parking, or a train, and those arena beer prices aren't to be laughed at. We already have all camping gear and far as I understand it food at Glasto can be entirely your own too, no vendors necessary?

Obviously it's a higher total cost, but when you look at it as two bands (blink and a support) with all those extra costs vs. what you get as a package Glasto, it doesn't even come close IMO. I think this is the death of mid-large sized gigs for us if that's what they're going to look like in the future. Works out SO much better to put some money in a pot each month and save for a festival.

That'll be my plan too, though the price increase is definitely making me think harder about it and we've already had a few drop out of our group with a few more now wavering.
