Finsbury Park 2023

Pulp and Jarvis absolutely knocked it out the park but the bar and food queues were ridiculous!! Nowhere near enough for that crowd.

I started a policy of eating a large lunch so I don't have to eat at shows, so I can't say I noticed, but given how abysmal the queueing situation was for these at Queens of the Stone Age in 2018, I can't say I'm surprised. Seems more vulnerable to it than other places.

Least Pulp were great. Sounded was slightly better than some of the muddier stuff I've endured there before.

Finsbury Park has always been a disgrace for getting served. Just not enough bar provision.

We all bought 3 pints each when we got in at 6.30pm cos we knew exactly what would happen. Even then it took 20 minutes to get served. And they had already run out of cardboard trays by then at the main bar.

Bar situation for Pulp is diabolical at 7pm, never seen queues like it!

Imo Finsbury park isn't the right venue for this size of gig, feels cramped and too many pinch points for this size of crowd. Festival republic can get in the bin as far as I'm concerned...

Nice to know Live Nation keeps being shite even over there.

Keen to understand what the entry policy is for the front section.
the gate staff have no clue.

we were waiting on the barrier for about 45m-1hr last night. It’s certainly not 1in 1out as people were leaving for the toilet constantly, and there was only 10-20 people waiting on the barrier.
the killer part is you can see huge gaps at the back of the section.

insult to injury, they would randomly open barriers to let people in who have just arrived. But people waiting there were told tough luck.

aside from that, Pulp smashed it on Saturday and unsurprisingly, 1975 took a step further and raised the bar even further last night.

Seemed to be considerably less people last night at The 1975 compared to Pulp. Both were supposed to be sold out, so would be interesting to know how many extra tickets were released for Pulp. It was so much easier to move around last night.

I walked straight into the front section yesterday for every band apart from the last two. I left after each band and then re-entered 15 mins later. It got really crowded for Bleachers so perhaps they wanted to thin out the front section for the last two acts.

Which side were you trying to enter?

I strolled into Sam Fender last year just before it started, and into Pulp on Saturday 5 minutes before.

The side to the right of the stage by the toilets.

we got there 25 mins before 1975 started and it was already closed. Based on previous experience at reading and download, I’ve never had a problem

Right hand too. No problem for Fender and Pulp.

Were you waiting at the mojo barrier gates into the front section, or the crowd barrier side where the exit was?

Both parts I mentioned were manned, one was an entry and one was the exit.

Did it have mojo barrier like this?

Line Up Gate – MOJO® Rental (mojorental.com)

Or just barriers like this?

Smartweld Police Crowd Control Barrier | First Fence Ltd

Entry to the front section is through the line up gates, exit via the crowd barriers.

Entry was on a first come first served basis till it reaches capacity, monitored by spotters on stage and CCTV. Also at various points through the day, re-entry was allowed via a token system to allow people to go to the bar/toilet etc.
