The "We must fix this successful festival that manifestly *isn't* broken by booking shittier acts cos people are too used to having good ones" thought process that crops up here every few months would be baffling if it wasn't so f**king funny.

It's fun to play along with though. Keeps morale up during the lean months.

Sorry to be blunt  far to much entitled spoilt behaviour over the size of the booking and for me it's one of the big negatives about the festival.

Again totally with you

Quality and entertainment value are much more important.

Dismissing from this list

I said there would be scrutiny......

Dua lips (unless you are suggesting they would put her on twice)

Madonna (as the context is a replacement for Madonna)

Taylor Swift (unavailable)

Wknd, Drake (££££)

Lana Del Rey (Blacklist)

Green Day (IOW exclusive)

Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Eminem, Harry Styles (not active in 24,

Stones (as it's silly to think they can just rock up and book the stones again)

Il score you 8/21 (you names one two many) I'm not sure AC DC is a realistic answer either but il give you benefit of the doubt.

The point I ls there is not this massive pool people sometimes perceive there is

TBF I wasn't talking specifically about 2024. I just provided a list of 20 acts who could (and would) be asked to headline the Pyramid Stage before the Chems.

Is it? Lana’s forgotten more great tunes than the x boy band member will ever have written for him.

Are they the ones she'd perform in the second half of a full set?

Dismissing from thewlis list.

Heavy scrutiny was warned.....

Peter Kay (not sure they would randomly throw a comedian on)

Sam Rider, Sam Callaghan, Anne Marie (not a bigger act)

Frank Gallagher, Anne Widdercombe, Dave's coaches

P!nk (unavailable)

Black pink (not active in 24)

Score 11/20

Must try harder (benefit of the doubt given on Foals)

How does this manifest in reality and how does it impact your experience of the festival?

Anyone could do that.

That was not what the challenge was.

As I said earlier Florence replaced Foo Fighters and she would not have been what people call a Glastonbury headliner size act but her the festival was still great....

The festival survived, no one got hurt, I'm sure there was a few social media tantrums but they can  be ignored......

Point is.  If they can't always fill a slot with a mega act it's not the end of the world

There are very few currently active "mega acts" that I have any interest in seeing.

Personally I'd rather see the likes of Kae Tempest/Little Sims/Shy Girl headline (and yes I know it's not happening) than dull/over-the-hill/over hyped/boring "big acts".

But as your well aware I don't often go to the Pyramid and am very happy frequenting WH, The Park and occasionally The Other Stage (usually for dance acts). So it doesn't really impact on me at all.

They stopped at 20 - theres plenty more names.

There are many other headliners that sell shows far better than chems can. Pulp as you said is a good example.

You could even include shite like George Ezra or Capaldi.

Sure they are rubbish (who said that stops glasto!) but these names can easily sell 3-4 o2 nights vs chems' 1 unsold out one.

Capaldi sold the O2 in something ludicrous like 40 seconds.
